I just wanna say Thank you for showing the mixing of the paint itself ... A lot of people wanna charge you just to show you that. My mom and I have dozens of baby dolls (not reborn ones) and I just want to learn how to fix them a bit since they have gotten too white after decades of love and care. (Greetings from my cave! Thank you so much, I was almost getting crazy before I found your channel. The acrylic did not stick and you explained the thing with the pigment, now I am mixing my own colors in a jars and selling them as ready to use. You won´t get it in our country and specially not the acrylic and know how is expensive skill. Not everybody can do their own mix, just like not everybody can do math, I can´t, but I speak your language and I love art. I can´t make almost any money on this, but I can help others and buy more colors.

@lifewithsharonb51383 жыл бұрын
If it's plaid folk art outdoor matte sealer, then it should not be shiny if it's being applied correctly - you need to use a mop brush and put it on a cosmetic wedge with the top ripped off for texture. You need to pounce the sealer on the vinyl in small sections. You need to wash your brush and change your cosmetic wedge frequently because if they get 'caked', you won't get a matte effect. Hope this helps.

@lifewithsharonb51387 ай бұрын
Yes, there is such a thing as adding too much medium. The consistency of the mix should be a milky consistency that you can see when you brush it up on the side of the mixing bowl. I don't make the consistency thicker for creases, blushing, mottling, or details. I do make the consistency thicker for painting hair, and for tipping the nails. Hope this helps.

where do you storage your mix paint? room temperature or the fridge? Can you make a video of the baking process please? Between of how many layers of paint when do you bake the kit ? Have a lovely day 😊
@lifewithsharonb51387 жыл бұрын
I keep it at room temperature, right on my work space table. I cover it with saran wrap. It depends on how many layers of paint - when I feel it is done! Maybe 20, or more. Then I use a final coat of Genesis Thinning Medium on a cosmetic wedge which has the top ripped off (for texture). Then I bake in my Nu-Wave oven (I got on ebay) with the EXTENDER RING (very important so the heating element is raised higher to avoid burning the vinyl) at power level 6 for 10 minutes - then I repeat the baking when the vinyl cools. I use cloths to cover the bottom of the oven and place my vinyl parts on them so that none of them touch each other, and they don't touch the sides where there might be exposed metal. Hope this helps! When I get to the point of baking my next doll, I will do a video. Sharon

I am hearing that when painting eyebrows you have to get it right the first time with acrylics due to there is not much error time to wipe it off and redo it. Is that true?

Not if you start with a very light layer first.

As someone who has just started watching tutorials for painting, can someone explain to me why the paint has to be pounced on, instead of just stroking it on with a sponge brush or something? Will it leave streaks? It just looks so slow and laborious to watch someone sit there and pounce. I could understand if you were doing a mottled area where you didn't want it completely covered, but when you're covering the entire surface anyway, it seems odd to watch someone just pounce over the same areas over and over again. Every time I watch someone do it, it seems like they just go over the same area over and over again. I'm thinking how many times do they think they have to pounce over it before they've covered it?

The reason for pouncing it is to give the vinyl the look of 'skin'. The vinyl is smooth so you need to pounce the paint to give it some pores like skin. Hope this makes sense.

how many coats do u need?
@lifewithsharonb51388 жыл бұрын
Altogether I probably use about 30 coats - that's with multiple layers of mottling, creasing, veining and details. The painted hair is another story! Each strand of hair gets multiple layers for varying degrees of lightness and darkness. Hope this helps. Sharon

Oooh...i was told to use matte medium as a sealant for my acrylic paint ant my doll came out very sticky, bright pink and shiny.. He looked like he just came out someone bloody p****. I ended up scrubbing him down with baking soda and dish detergent. Most came off but hopefully he'll continue to keep some of the rose pink color I gave him. It was a cheap newborn manikan anyway but I still want to keep him. He look much better now and most stickiness is finally gone and all that excess pink.

Wow, I'm glad you were able to correct him. Sorry that happened.... It does take practice.

Hi Born Again Reborns I ended up buying another one and when he arrives I will leave him in original condition. Which he has a peachy tone. He looked cute when I took a red crayon and lightly blushed his cheeks and chin and added a stork bite to his forehead. I even colored his elbows/knees. Even his nipples and the bottom of his family jewels......Until I got curious about the (Acrylics) and went all the way painting his whole body. Ohhh Boy what a Doozy lesson learned. 😆 never again

Why do you need to use distilled water? Xx
@lifewithsharonb51387 жыл бұрын
There are no minerals in the water to distort the paint & vinyl.
