Believe it or not, you actually don't want to mix your backing vocals the same as your lead vocals. We want our backing vocals to support the lead vocals but still leave room for them.
So in this video I go through each step of the vocal mixing process that I teach in my Pro Vocal Checklist and show how I approach it differently for backing vocals.

I always end up coming out of these videos with knowledge that goes far beyond the subject matter at hand. Vocal production is a weak point for me, so I get a lot out of these videos in that sense, but I ended up applying some of these concepts to my room mics on my drums. I’m using VST drums that give you individual cymbal tracks, and combined with the room sound the high end was getting very hard to tame. Turns out, cutting a good bit of the highs from the room mics gave the close mics room to do their thing AND helped the room mics sound more, well roomy and not upfront.

Great video! This had just what I needed (EQ and comp strategy) to keep the doubles from competing with the parallel processing and lead vox tracks! On backing vocals, I try to record some between the lead phrases (call and response). Then in the mixing stage, I can send them back a bit in the mix and use distortion or reverb to change the character of them. I find it's a sneaky way to add more storytelling while still leaving space for instruments to shine and space for the lead vocal to breathe. If they're not interesting enough as a response vocal, I still have the option to use them like adlibs. But this effect heavy approach can sometimes be distracting for backing vocals that line up with the lead vocal (e.g.., harmonies).

I have no problem at all with u continueing to do vocal videos but idk if u have mixed songs with a two track beat before but if so u should do a video on how to mix vocals with a two track beat
