★ I then went to show how to set your hot cues, use your hot cues while mixing, various transition styles as you mix, BPMs and KEYs within the tracks, and the basics of DJ'ing to ensure you can craft your sound and mixing style to perfection.

Much respect to you. I’ve been djing for over 20 years but have always shyed away from using Serato. Traktor is my go to program followed by Dj pro Algoriddim then VirtualDJ. During this Covid lockdown I’ve been trying to learn Serato but found the beat grids too fast for me to see my cue points clearly even on my 17inch MacBook Pro. Thanks for inspiring me by answering the comment on how to slow down the grid. It has made a world of difference. God bless u brother 👍

Much blessings and respect to you too brotherly. I'm glad you found my tutorial very helpful. In all honesty I was lucky the first software I ever used was Serato, if not I would not even attempt to use it cos it can be very daunting sometimes with the layout 😂. With the experience and knowledge you have under your belt as a DJ, you would definitely enjoy using serato DJ as you keep on it. Much love bro and keep yourself safe bro 🙏🏾 🙌🏿. I would like to ask some certain questions I want to knw if the MacBook Air is strong enough for djing and what is ur rating on the pioneer ddj 1000 rekordbox I would be glad if u can answer my questions
@DjBlinkBlink
@DjBlinkBlink 5 жыл бұрын
Hello Wale, thanks for your feedback mate. To answer your question, a MacBook Air is strong enough for DJing (I use a MacBook air). You just have to make sure you have about 8gb of Ram (it usually comes with 4gb of Ram but I upgraded mine to 8gb). That memory would be enough to handle anything you need to use on it. Now for the second part of your question, the Pioneer DDJ 1000 is a MACHINE!!!. I have a high rating of it cos of the size of the jog wheels and the display screen inside the jog wheels itself. You cannot go wrong if you buy this controller mate. Good luck, DJ Blink-Blink

Bro.... u are a star. I learned a lot from watching you. Pls I never understood how to use a loop. Pls can you explain why u used the loop pls. Thanks
@DjBlinkBlink
@DjBlinkBlink 4 жыл бұрын
You are welcome Chris. Thanks a lot for your feedback. Now to answer your question, I used the loops so I can be in control of a "specific part" of the track. Let me break this down: If you want to mix 2 songs, you don't want them to "clash". One of the ways to ensure this does not happen is to"loop a part of the track" by using 4 beats, 2 beats, 8 beats or even 16 beats. This would make it easy for you to monitor both songs as they are playing together and then when you are ready, you can turn the outgoing song down and then increase the volume of the incoming song. Hope this answers your question mate. Cheers, DJ Blink-Blink

I have heard experienced professional dis mix vocals with vocals and pull it off and fit the vocals together however this is a lot harder approach and its easier to do what the video says and keep vocals away from each other and just mix on the non vocal part on at least one deck or both decks.
@DjBlinkBlink
@DjBlinkBlink 2 жыл бұрын
In all honesty, mixing vocals with vocals is "word play" and won't go down well in wedding or corporate events as you know 😅 However in a club environment or private event, you would be a star and would definitely be hailed as a king!! So will I "word play" if I get the chance? Naaaaaaaa Now you ask why....well it's too much headache and stress mate 😅😂 Cheers, DJ Blink-Blink

Take a look at my DJ tutorial playlist below (there are 10 videos focused on learning how to better in DJ'ing) kzbin.info/aero/PLEayDS13Dep7VcnLMVqOav4L0UUUGbZBi Cheers, DJ Blink-Blink

Hellow my DJ.... Is it a must that when composing a song into another one,u play it on a chorus???
@DjBlinkBlink
@DjBlinkBlink 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Des, well not really. It's just a preference for me because the chorus is a known part of the song. Remember when you are transitioning between tracks, you are aiming to do it "seamlessly" and a good way to get this perfectly is to aim to transit at a section of the song that would "hide" any minor errors. Have a listen to my Ultimate Mix on my website (link below) and you would be able to listen to how I do this www.djblinkblink.com/ultimate-mix-album

Best option is to register with music/record pools like BPM supreme, beatsource, digital DJ pool, tidal etc. They do collect a monthly fee but it's worth the access you get to a massive library

Hello Sir....I see u used the tempo option to match the BPM. I'm new to the DJ field, can u tell what the difference is between doing it that way and hitting sync on the controller? Thank you!
@DjBlinkBlink
@DjBlinkBlink 4 жыл бұрын
Hello Gary aka "Gary the king", Firstly welcome to the DJ world. You would love it and it would open the gateway to loads of fun for you. So to answer your question, there is no difference between using the SYNC button and tempo option. You just have to make sure your beatgrids are properly set when using SYNC which would allow the 'sync system' to read your tracks easily when calculating the BPM. You can watch this video I did that discusses sync kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKi1oZxtiLeLpc0 and you can watch this video to learn how to edit your beatgrids kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHeoXppqnJ6Kp80 Feel free to follow my page on Instagram 'djblinkblink' if you want to see some more videos of my events and live sessions. To access the beat grids feature on Serato scratch live, you need to download Ableton and then go into the Setup screen on your Serato scratch live, click Plugins, and make sure Bridge is 'enabled'. Cheers, DJ Blink-Blink

What does beat grid do
@DjBlinkBlink
@DjBlinkBlink 4 жыл бұрын
Beatgrids are series of markers that point to the location of beats within the track. They are used for advanced mixing functions such as sync, precise effects synchronization, looping and accurate BPM representation. Hey mate, if you are using Serato DJ, you can slow down the speed of your beatgrids on your screen by pressing the + or - keys on your keyboard. This basically zooms in or zooms out your display and makes it look slower. Cheers, DJ Blink-Blink

Depends on what you are after when it comes to DJ'ing. Do you want a software that will suggest tracks to you when mixing or not and some other factors? Also for the UK, beginners have loads of options so you can't really pin a specific software for them.

Hi Brian, If I would go for either, I would buy the Rane SL3 cos of the extra features. Also remember Serato DJ and Serato scratch live would work with both the SL3 and SL2 so you can easily swap over to Serato DJ if you need to use the beat grids or just install Ableton on Serato scratch live
