Brent - Thanks for posting this, again. I bulked wrapped a RAV4 hood this weekend using this soap for the first time with slip mixed into a 1.5L pump sprayer. I had to use much higher ratios to get the solution to "slip" and avoid pre-tacking. In the end, I was still getting all kinds of pre-tacking. Not sure what I am doing wrong, or could be my material. I use the Global PPF since that is the only stuff you can really get as a DIYer. Will keep messing with ratios. Thanks again for all your content. Best PPF site on YT.

I'm glad to hear this is helpful and thank you for the kind words, they really mean a lot to me! I did a Rav4 last week. I've used up to 12ml per Gallon in order to help with pre-tacking. Some vehicle paint can be more sticky, maybe it's a warmer day in the shop, or maybe the material you are using has a more aggressive adhesive. There is definitely some trial and error to getting your slip solution dialed in. Did you make sure to wait for the hood to fully cool down? The engine puts out heat and keeps the hood warm for hours. I always start with the bumper install and then move to the hood. This way I give the engine and hood some time to cool down. Also, I have some connections for PPF if you'd like to get your hands on some other brands.

@@EncorePPFtint Brent - Thanks again for commenting. Yes, RAV4 was completely cool. Did the bulk wrap in the garage. It's a brand new vehicle, so you could be on to something with the paint. However, I did do a 2-stage paint prep to the hood even though it is new car. Wanted an absolutely pristine surface. I'm in Hawaii, so it's always warm. 😎 I may take you up on your offer for PPF sources.

Great video, question, why do you run water through the Reverse Osmosis System system instead of distilled or regular tap water?
@EncorePPFtint Жыл бұрын
Good question. Distilled water would work just as well (IMO). My goal with the water I use is to remove the TSD (total devolved solids) and as many other contaminates as possible. Clean water gives you a great base to add soap to and will help with consistency in your mixed solutions. TDS in tap water is really high, and that is what leaves waterspots. Our tap water has a TDS of 200+, and anything over 20 leaves waterspots. I also don't want to pay for distilled water and have all the gallon jugs stacked all over. 😁😁 The reverse osmosis system is convenient. 👍🏻

@scottgallagher4596 If you have a couple of weeks before you buy one, I can let you know how a new one works that I just bought. I'm installing it at my house this weekend. It needs to plug into an outlet, but it wastes less water while it's filtering the water. The apec system wastes (or uses) 2 gallons of water in order to make one gallon of clean water. It's a downside I'm hoping my home system will limit or eliminate.

Thank you again. I always appreciate hearing it! Let me see what I can do about a video on that system. Here is a comment I left for someone else yesterday about the system. "Distilled water would work just as well (IMO). My goal with the water I use is to remove the TSD (total devolved solids) and as many other contaminates as possible. Hey Brent, thanks again for your excellent content . Did I hear you correctly say 8 mL of seventh generation soap for every gallon? That’s only like a quarter of an ounce. Is that the correct measurement?
@EncorePPFtint4 ай бұрын
Yes. I know that seems like a crazy small amount, but it gets the job done. There is a learning curve to using so little soap. You can start with double that soap and work your way down. Running more tacky, like I do, allows you to move faster and keeps the PPF from slipping all over the place. It also helps minimize the amount of tac solution that you need to use during an installation.

I use RO water as well, but have found I need to up my soap ratio for slip as the RO water is so “pure.” Have you tried purified drinking water before?
@EncorePPFtint Жыл бұрын
There will definitely be an adjustment needed when you change your water type. Especially if you are going from tap water to some kind of purified water. I don't think I've noticed much of a difference between the RO water and purified or distilled water. I must admit that I don't use much other water than the RO though. I try to keep things exact in my solutions. I only use purified water when I need some new plastic jugs to hold my RO water. :)

Do you see an advantage of using that dish soap over j&j baby shampoo like many others use?
@EncorePPFtint Жыл бұрын
@dcastro5551 I've used quite a few different soaps over the years. J&J being one of them. I think this dish soap is very eco-friendly. That will mean fewer ingredients that aren't needed for PPF installations. J&J will have fragrance, color, something that makes a baby's skin soft, etc. I'm not sure that one is better than the other, though. 👍🏻 What are your thoughts?

This 7-12ml of soap works great with PremiumShield and CovrGard. Sun Tek Ultra would be more like 14-20ml per gallon. 👍

@EncorePPFtint10 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, I have not used J&J in 10 years or more, so I can not compare the two. I was using a car wash soap before this and then Joy soap before that. Do you use J&J? What are your ratios?

We talked on Instagram, but I figured I'd answer the question for other viewers. This soap is not detergent. You want the clear dish wash liquid. A detergent is normally something that goes in in a dishwasher or clothes washer. 👍🏻😁

There probably isn't much difference, as long as it works for your installs. How much baby shampoo you use per gallon (What are you ratios)? I'm normally 7-12ml per gallon with our soap.

we use 5 pumps of johnsons shampoo per gallon and 20% iso / h20........does distilled make a big difference when tacking?@@EncorePPFtint
@EncorePPFtint10 ай бұрын
cleaner water is more pure and I think needs more soap. I think it makes the adhesive more tacky.
