This is going to sound crazy but I've never tried gel. 🤯🤦🏻‍♂️ It looked messy. 🤣 What brand would you recommend? I have a Porsche Macon coming in for PPF in a week. I get a ton of pretacking on these hoods because of all the stretching and time needed for working areas down. Do you think that gel would be a game changer on a huge hood like that?

@@EncorePPFtint absolutely. I wouldn’t use it on the entire thing but I like to use it on ridges just to keep the pre tacking to a minimum. Using it for the whole install would just make a mess. Any install gel should be fine, they’re all basically the same thing imo but if I had to recommend any of them CarPro has some and 3M has some.

I'm going to buy some Monday so I'll have it ready. Might even test it on a different hood. It sounds like you are saying to apply it (full strength?) directly to the areas I'm going to get pretacking. Is that correct? I love learning new things. Thank you for bringing this up! Maybe someone has a video on how to use gel. 🤔

@@EncorePPFtint exactly. I usually just squeeze a line along the high points and give it a good rub around with my finger to spread it out a bit. If I have a pretty tricky bumper like most Toyotas I tend to use gel over slip just because you get probably triple the dwell time before you start dealing with tacking anywhere.

Yes, it definitely should. It does the same for headlights.

It's so funny that you saw it there! It is an E30, and videos are being edited now. I PPFed the full front end. So, bumper, fenders, and hood videos are all in the works! With recording and editing, I'm going to have 15 hours just into the bumper video. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣😂

It's a 1988 BMW M3 E30.

The film will be the hardest to shrink on the corners. That's where you will have the most fingers, and because one side is tacked down with the H pattern, it makes the film heat shrink differently than fingers that are out towards the middle. As far as the U shapes... those areas are either shrunk enough or too much. You need to push those out. Sometimes, when you push the U shapes out, they create fingers at the left and right of them. Then you shrink those fingers down. I need to record some footage of a person learning to tint windows and how to fix and avoid the problems.

You will see in the video that I do not allow U shapes in my heatshrink. As soon as one starts to show up, you need to push it out and correct it.

White is better than black, though!

Definitely every single piece of lint gets me. Black has it's issues but I still prefer over white. Maybe being a mobile service, never having a controlled environment, isn't such a great idea 🤔

@andrewewen Yeah, a controlled environment can make a difference. I've installed PPF and Tint on my parents' vehicles in their garage. They live out if state. But their garage is very clean and has AC. Fancy! I couldn't install PPF in my own garage, though! 🤣😂

I do tend to do that. Decades of practice can do that. 😂🤣

@EncorePPFtint the company was clear power but the cord I bought is not available on amazon right now. They have other cords with the lockable end. It's a switch you turn and it locks into the hole on one of the prongs of the male end and lights up to show connection.

@NoBody-jo5rj It's because door handles suck to PPF. 😂🤣 We definitely do them, but they can be a challenge at times.

We were all there! I used to lose my mind! After my third or fourth try, I'd throw all of my tools from my pouch all over the shop. 🤬 I didn't have anyone to help guide me, and I don't like failure. Keep at it and soak up info from youtube. What brand film are you working with? Some films are very hard to heat shrink. What state do you live in?

The $ is just part of learning. There is an art to it. With any trade, there is going to be a learning curve. You'd probably really benefit from som hands on experience in a class. What state do you live in? Once you get it, you'll be in great shape. It does take time and patience. I know it can be super frustrating!

Thank You!! I appreciate the feedback. I think this bumper is totally doable in one piece. It's a little tough because you need to make sure that you stretch the film enough from left to right for both the top and the middle of the bumper at the same time. This kits is just set up to make it very straight forward for the installer. This would be a pretty complicated kit if they didn't separate that top middle piece. Too close to bulking I'd guess.

Thank you for the feedback! I just got done installing carbon fiber PPF on the hood and spoiler of a Porsche Panamera. This PPF looks amazing. I'll post a couple of pictures on the community board for this channel. As for the tint. Tint will not work. Window tint that is exposed to the elements will go bad super fast. Plus, there is the whole problem with heat shrinking and trying to get it to stick to the roof. It's all bad. You can definitely have vinyl installed over it. Vehicle wrap. You can pick any color or finish. They also have tinted vinyl. I'm not sure what sizes it comes in. Either way, you are going to need to make sure that the roof is very smooth. Otherwise, that bumpyness is going to show after the installation. It might need to be lightly wet sanded. Did you call around and get pricing on having the roof recleared? I'll ask the bosyshop that recleared this roof. I'd figure that vinyl is going to be your most cost-effective option. But you are probably looking at 3-5 years for the lifespan of vinyl on a roof. PPF will be 7-10 years.

I am located in the bay area, so stockton is not too far if it can be a single day job for tinted vinyl or ppf. Definitely will contact you in the near future. Thanks

@EncorePPFtint I did a full ppf on the type r. I left the bumpers for last and they came out 8/10 on the rear and 7/10 in the front. The rest of the car solid 9/10. For sure, I'll look into ordering some bulk ppf from you guys, Thanks again for all your videos!

I think PPF is harder to learn. As well as more expensive to get into and learn.

Hey! These towels were ordered from PremiumShield back when they sold towels. I'm pretty sure that we bought up the last few boxes a couple years ago. So, unfortunately I do not have an exact towel to link you to. 😢 The have loops on one side and are smother on the other side. They do not leave any lint behind. Great towels. I'll reach out to the manufacturer of PS and see if they remember where they got them. 👍🏻

Kits are great. I don't always use them, but it's great to have the option. We use a 40" GCC Jaguar V and a 72" GCC Jaguar IV. All in all, they've been great plotter cutters. I've heard great things about Rolland and Graphtec plotter cutters but have never used them myself. 👍🏻
