Hi Steph :) I just got my Procion dyes today and will be making something tomorrow after work, I'm assuming I will just have to stir like crazy because I don't have a mixer, like a lot of other folks hehe. Thx for the vid, and great tunes...which you Always have! I appreciate that, after all...I Am the Nightrocker!! hahaha

This really is such an easy method. No soda ash chunks. Thanks for the tutorial.

You've been nothing but helpful to me with these amazing tutorials, I really appreciate you. I have a question please, how many items can we soak in each gallon of water ? And should we clean them with something else after the dying or not ?
@BelladonnaDyesCo3 жыл бұрын
I suppose it depends on the size of the container and the size of the material. I soak many blank items at a time and do it daily until the soda ash solution all used up. Before I mix a new batch I take the bucket outside and hose it off.. Are you asking about the rinse out after the tie dyeing process? Yes, I use a textile detergent called Keiralon and it’s linked down below in the description box. ❤️🌈

Do you rinse the shirts out after soaking and before dying or not? Thanks
@BelladonnaDyesCo Жыл бұрын
No. The soda ash has to stay in the natural fibers (cotton, rayon, bamboo,,,) so the procion dye can bond. Ring it out best you can but please do not rinse out the SA. ❤️🌈

Can I just use Rit dye after soaking in soda ash?
@BelladonnaDyesCo3 ай бұрын
I wouldn’t. The dye I use is procion dye. RIT is completely different. ♥️🌈

is this a immersion blender you only use for soda ash or is it the one you might use cooking as well after it's washed of course.
@BelladonnaDyesCo3 жыл бұрын
I use it only for tie dye. I try not to use tie dye tools for kitchen use. ☺️❤️🌈

Stick blenders are very inexpensive on Amazon (under $20), so not a big deal to have one dedicated to dye-related activities. As Steph mentions, *nothing* should be used for both cooking and dye-related tasks, no matter how thoroughly (you think) it's been cleaned.
@photasticimages9258 Жыл бұрын
I do it this way but use a dollar store bucket with a pour-spout to easily pour (and re-pour) the SA solution into/back into the jug after mixing new solution or soaking blanks.
@sigsputnik13 жыл бұрын
Do you just keep using it until you need to have more?
@BelladonnaDyesCo3 жыл бұрын
Great question. Yes, I use and reuse it until it becomes weird and yellow. I make sure my shirts are prewashed and bone dry before soaking. I use a Panda spin dryer so it’s really easy to pour the runoff back into the bucket. There are pH test strips you can buy from Dharma to test your SA. As long as it stays around 10.5-11 your procion dyes will react with the natural fibers in the item. Hope this helps. ❤️🌈

You tell us absolutely nothing. Is that vinegar mixed with salt or some toxic chemical you get in a hardware store or pharmacy. Who really knows man??

It’s one cup of soda ash to 1 gallon of water. I thought for sure I explain that. Sorry if you are confused. Best of luck to you on your tie dye journey. Everything I use is listed in the description box of the over 400 free tie dye videos available to you. ❤️🌈
