How to mix the perfect cat's eye green hue

A lot of greens right out of the tube/stick/pencil/marker are just garish when it comes to the subtlety of a cat's olive-ish eye color. Let's talk about a #colortheory tip to make the right color in any medium! (Even if you don't draw animals, you can use this for all kinds of green things!)

For watercolor, DS Green Apatite Genuine is a very good cat’s eye green. It granulates out for nice variation within the color field.

I so agree how important eyes are (animals and humans)! When I did ceramics years ago, I got very good at eyes to the point of other students asking me to do theirs when the teacher was busy! Never did anything as intricate as yours tho! TFS

Just want to say, you had some great eye-deas in this video, Sandy! LOL Sorry - I simply could not resist a little ocular pun. :) Thank you for sharing these tips. You may not remember, but I had asked you a long time ago in a comment here if you might consider a mini class or something on doing different skin tones in colored pencils. You said at that time that you might think about that. Any chance of that becoming a reality sometime next year? I would love guidance in that area. I found color blend recommendations for Prismacolors for different hair colors, but instruction or tips on skin tones in colored pencils are harder to come by. I've tried coming up with my own combinations, but I still feel like I'm missing things. They sometimes at least end up looking flat. I do layer colors lightly, and don't just add Color Layer #2 over all of Color Layer #1 & so on, so I am aiming for highlights, shadows, transitions, etc. (Hope that makes sense!) But they never look right to me, especially non-Caucasian skin tones. I've tried to apply your tips using Copic markers from an old video of yours to Prismacolors, but either the technique(s) don't transfer from Copics to colored pencils well or I just am not doing it "right." Anyway, I really hope you would consider doing something along those lines. I don't know if it would be enough material for a full-length class, but I would think at least a mini class.
