Great video as usual, Wayne! I noticed that you use the drop-down menus when choosing plugins. Since you’re on PT 2019, you can just left-click the insert slot and start typing the name of the plugin and it’ll search for it instantly. Huge time saver! If you already knew this then nvm haha

great methods.. however any compressor that carries a dry and wet mix knob is already parallel but your method is def great to zero in.. very simple for people that cant figure out side chaining.. that same method can be dedicated on to vocals side chaining them to create a pocket over the two track using C4 & C1 comp gate stereo is def a great option for de-esser nd presence exciter on vocals and buses.. nice demonstration . good work bro

You might need to get more familiar with your DAW. Unless he's doing something that's using a DAW specific feature, you can do it in any DAW. I could see if he was using a plugin that only came with PT but that's not the case.

It’s practically exactly the same brotha. All DAWs have the same concept just a different technique in each one. Either way or going to make it your own.

I’m dealing with this now. I bought beats from a guy and didn’t know I needed the stems for the beat until I purchased a beat from Beat Stars and it gave me the option. I went back to the producers I bought beats directly from and they told me their computer was stolen or they reconfigured their hard drive and they no longer have them. So I’m stuck with wave and mp3 tracks 😩

really hope this finds you, 2 questions: 1. When it comes to master, do you master mixed vocals and the ‘mastered’ 2 track together? 2. What volume are you peaking at for vocals when recording to a 2track -10db as your usual?
@nicolasmacias52183 жыл бұрын
I mean typically for a master track you use a separate session and a full bounced out mix with the beat and vocals together on one 2track. As far as the vocals, every track/recording will be different depending on artist, session, mic and presets. There's no precise volume for vocals you van set every time
@nicolasmacias52183 жыл бұрын
Also for vocals, it depends on style and genre. For hip hop the sweet spot is usually whereever the snare is in the mix. Vocal level should be equal to the snare level. Hopefully that helps!
@Hugoknots2 жыл бұрын
By definition, you would never “master” a vocal track - that’s not mastering. Mastering is the final quality check and processing phase before releasing and only happens on a full stereo track. There’s no set number you should have vocals peaking at. Generally, don’t clip your converters and your good. Later just lower or raise the volume to sit right in the mix.

Videos getting better and better, just when I thought you was running out of stuff to say. Don't recall you doing a video on side chains and how they can affect the plugins, so maybe you can squeeze that one in. over all you get an A because the videos are very clear and easy to follow along.

Thank you for this. I be mixing songs with just the master beat but dint know how yo mix fit the vocal in.
@jordangressman5164 Жыл бұрын
around 8 or 9:00 minutes in, you used c4 as a dynamics controller on your 2-track for your vocals to sit in the midrange. i’ve been using a technique with pro-q3 where i sidechain my vocals to the pro-q3 insert on my 2-track, and do the same exact thing. now my question is, (generally speaking of course,) should i be doing this technique how YOU did? where you’re using the beat as your sidechain trigger to make room for the vocals in the midrange? or with my vocals sidechained (like how i’m already doing it,) or both? any answers are appreciated 🙏
@hadifares59194 ай бұрын
i would say try both and see what works better for you. i would assume the pro q way would give a more natural sound of compression and headroom.
