A Few more tips i have that you missed. 1. You can make the volume go back down and up in the kick ant the end of the sidechain so it doesnt create clicks. 2nd you can reduce the 100-300Hz Range on the kick and boost that range. 3rd There is a trick where you can get your kick and bass perfectly balanced, You solo the kick and bass and add a Vu Meter on the master to see the average volume (Daws show peak volume on the faders. Now solo the kick till it hits on - 3DB average volume and bring in the bass until they are togheter at 0DB and now put the gain back down.

Vu meter average volume gain matching should be done before sidechaining or after sidechaining?
@KlingMusic4 жыл бұрын
@@siddharthsparsh9612 I would check both but the peak volume will be the same either way. I’d stick with the sidechained since that would be the final product

@@KlingMusic using this VU meter trick after sidechaining had no impact, i.e, the rms value remained same. But when i turned of the sidechain the rms value of voulme increased by +3db.. What i learnt is,, this technique cannot be applied after sidechaining because kick and bass will never play together in order to adjust their blended volume.. Kick and bass blends together only when there is no sidechain.. Also, this trick applies only for live drums and bass mixing. Not for synth bass and kick. Synth bass has less harmoic content when compared to live bass instrument. Anyway thanks man❤

I have discovered that if the bass line overlaps the kick the normal sidechain is useless so I use shaperbox 2 at duck section you have the clear sub preset that ducks just the low frequencies, that way the kick always gets the low range spot but the bass keeps playing the melody line. But you can use any other lfo that does this not full spectrum but just a range.

Good explanation. Sidechaining definitely is the most important thing... Never thought of reverse sidechaining the kick. That's very nice. Thanks again. Great vid

Ive heard in few Slap House tracks like LANNE - Lose Our Minds, the kick is bit louder than sub bass, which i think gives more power to a drop
@whothefrickareyou44902 жыл бұрын
yes it would be, but for ex after drop, we dont need that much energy, we can use this trick for those places ig.

Quick question. When it comes to cutting off frequencies for the kick how low can one go ? Thanks
@KlingMusic2 жыл бұрын
I generally leave the low end alone. I usually reduce mid/high frequencies if the kick is too clicky
