Do mods affect the appdata file? I mean if I only use skin mods and want to update my backup data once in a while and if I also want to go back to vanilla once in a while can I just copy the current files in my Elden Ring data files and replace the outdated backup files with them or do I need to take more steps?

i have elden ring from steamunlocked, when i try to launch the mod it wont start. my game folder is different and when i select browse local folder in steam it doesnt bring me to my elden ring folder so maybe thats the problem. if anyone knows what i should do I could use the help.

Thanks a lot dude! Do you think the new update and the dlc coming is gonna break these or other mods? Regardless i already installed the mods and made a backup of the vanilla save. Question though, is it possible to use a modded save as a vanilla one when removing mods the later? Reason is how far one progresses in the modded one compared to jumping back to vanilla where one might be hours of progress behind the modded save..

PLS HELP. every time i open the ".bat" file in mod engine to open elden ring a black screen appears. I am pretty sure its command prompt opening for like a milli second and then it closes and nothing happens. can anyone helpp?

When I install Mod engine 2, with the same steps as in the video, in the launchmod_eldenring file, I do not get the ".bat" nor does it let me start elden ring by clicking on that file. Do you know why this is?

can't speak for why it doesn't work, but if you have file extensions turned off, it won't show you the suffixes on files (such as 'eldenring.exe') you can look up file extensions to see how to turn the setting on online. hope you figure it out!

Check to see if the mod you’re using has any Requirements. Go to the mod you want to use, scroll down on its page, and see if it has any.

Smaller mods usually go into the game's mod folder (if they contain a .dll file). However, to be sure, always read the description of the downloaded mod, which will specify how to install it.

banned and mods not working. that being said, being banned only disabled offline mode and im sure there is a mod that could fix that for you if it did happen.

vortex wont work for elden ring Edit : i saw a modder use vortex to mod ER. guess we need manually configure MO2 and vortex dashboard. but first need understanding how vortex and MO2 works. sure we know how convenient switching mod using vortex. indeed never see guide how to mod using vortex

This has been very informative. However, I have questions. Are texture/mesh replacers bannable? Assuming yes, can a save file, having used a mod to replace the mesh and texture of an existing armor, continue as is after removing said mod? Or would I have to overwrite with a clean backup save? If it isn't obvious, I haven't modded any fromsoft game before.

Mods, period, can run the risk of getting a ban. It’s why playing through Mod Engine starts you in Offline Mode.

I tried applying a mod (raptors set colour change) using mod engine 2 and it didnt work. Even when the 'mod engine 2' was inside the game main files folder. The bat file that was supposed to launch the game... didnt do so. So i changed it's name to 'start_protected_game.exe', still didnt work. A small black screen appeared just for a fraction of a second and that was it. Mod engine 2 (folders and files) being into the main game folder or otherwise didnt change a thing. The anti cheater toggler would only work on the original 'start_protected_game.exe' file, so i am unable to use the exe (modengine 2 launcher)/bat (eldenring_launcher.bat) from modengine 2. When using the original '*.exe' file (the one that worked for the anti cheat off mod) the game was able to launch normally, but with no mod whatsoever. Any help? *The 'raptors set mod' files were only dcx files inside the 'parts' folder.

Yes, you need to toggle off Anti-Cheat in order to play with mods otherwise you could get banned (or the game won't allow you to play at all. Don't entirely know) and you don't have to pay at all to download mods
