@@scottcunni check that your F4SE version and Fallout 4 version are compatible. Failing that you might be missing a requisite or install instructions. I would also post to the Nexus page for Unlimited Survival.if the problem persists, modders are great about helping troubleshooting

@@theguy235 Start very small, and only install F4SE, xSE Plugin, Address Library, AND SEE IF IT BOOTS. If it does, then we know it's probably a load order issue. I’m going to be 1000% honest: To preface, I’ve never coded or modded up until a week ago on my MacBook with sims4, so me being me, I thought “oh it must be the same for Fallout 4”, and downloaded a couple mods the same exact way. Holy moly, I’m SO grateful I stumbled across this video before running Fallout 4 again. I can not stress enough how much time, effort, and anxiety this video has saved me. F4SE is currently available for Next Gen, but I also have instructions for how to roll back to a stable version if you want to play pre next-gen (which I recommend anyway, I'm not updating Fallout 4). I would say it's worth the purchase for the moddability alone

You can, but you will need to make sure mods are compatible with that version. I can also safely tell you that my mod list won't be compatible for the most part. Any weapon mods that don't require custom scripting are probably safe as well as clothing mods. I would be cautious of mods that extend the script capabilities of F4 (such as MCM, as an example). I would certainly not expect mods with heavy scripting, like quest mods, to work without an update for the current version

A great many but mostly due to dependency. Safe to say that most new-ish mods (2018 onward) are probably safe as long as they don't make edits to NPC records or map changes in the Commonwealth

When I try to start up my game it just loads a black screen for a bit and then crashes, I made sure to have no yellow or red in the plugin section and rolled it back, im lost tbh...

Best advice I can give is start small. Plug in a couple mods at a time according to requirements and find out what the issue is. 60% of modding is troubleshooting and there's little I can do aside from show you how to take the steps yourself If you have Buffout 4 see if you can reference those crashlogs, you might need to perform some searches with the error codes. Also does Vortex report any file conflicts? You should see under one of the columns what looks like a "network" icon, you'll see red or green lightning bolts Let me know if you get it working, I just need to get some rest for now since it's late as fuck o'clock

That is very strange, I'm not exactly sure what the problem would be since I personally have never tried to mod anything from the epic store. You might need to install F4SE manually for epic store release

you mean they dont appear in the plugin list in vortex? That is strange, but check the file preview in NexusMods on the download page to verify that the files have an .esp or .esl or .esm, even. If it has any one of those three then it's a plugin. If it doesn't have any of those then it's loose file based and you dont have to worry

Hey! I followed all the steps to a tee, the game runs but none of the mods are working. I installed FallUI and Extended Dialogue Interface to test. I know is somewhat working because I can see the pop up in one of the top corners for FallUI, plus the font size chenged for some elements, but is not displaying the whole info. Also, you could download mods that you dont have the requirements for Vortex usually tells you hey you are missing these files. At least in my experience.

The process is pretty much the same for most Bethesda games, really the video could be called "How to Use Vortex" if anything

The only difference is some may require additional steps like Nemesis needed for Skyrim for a lot of mods.

Sometimes trying to load them all in at once doesn’t work apparently, so you might have to load the mods one at a time. After you load one you can check to see if it worked by launching your game and going into the mods option, it should appear there. I hope that fixes it for and I hope I explained it correctly, I had someone help me with the process too

Hello, I followed the tutorial but my game keeps crashing after I start moving in game. I ve tried to disable every mod except the F4SE and it keeps crashing (I have downgraded from the next gen update using your tutorial vid, and I have the correct F4SE version, for the pre next gen fallout 4 update) Does anyone have an idea what the issue could be ?

Check Fallout 4/data/data for duplicate cc files. Remove those as well, then check for duplicate data files. They should be moved to the parent data folder. This sounds like a black screen crash so I'm certain this should help

But I’ve found the problem ! 🤣 Running the game on all ultra settings was making it crash 🤷‍♂️ Turned everything down to high and it works fine now

I don't have one so I can't test, but I don't imagine it's impossible. If I'm not mistaken Steam Deck runs on Steam OS which is just a Linux distro for steam specifically. In this case you'll just want a mod manager that works with Linux (also can't help w this, I strictly use windows)

Autosort is powered by LOOT, but it doesn't show you plugins that have issues like actual LOOT does. It also just doesnt hurt to have more tools at your disposal, especially when troubleshooting

It won't help you at all, this is for PC modding only unfortunately. Luckily Xbox modding is very straightforward, and you have access to many of the same mods as PC with some exceptions. Although stay tuned for my next video because that video is strictly for you guys on console, all settlement building mods and they're all available on PC Xbox and PS4. In the future, when I put together mod list videos I'm gonna keep a special eye on things console players can enjoy too :)

Oh okay thank you I have just spent many hours today loading lots of great Mods and i have very carefully done it all in a very good order i also checked every single mod before i downloaded any of them. Once I finely got them all done i then restated my Xbox again then started new Game it is taking a very long time to start I am guessing it is loading a huge amount of files onto the game as the Xbox is sitting at idle and my 2TB External Hard drives light is slowly flashing i am guessing that is all normal?

@Bluesloverification for modded games you're probably going to want your game files (the game itself, mods and anything else) on your Xbox internal drive. It'll be the fastest and most reliable way of loading your game. Another consideration is you have a limit of 2GB on console. Make sure you don't go over that. Beyond that, I can't advise too much on console modding since the last time I did it was probably 8 years ago, much has changed since then. Still, keep communicating here, I can help where I'm capable of doing so. If your loading takes forever (like, 10 minutes or longer), then something is wrong with your load order and you'll have to reorganize it. It's hard to explain to a first timer what that might look like but generally anything with .esm file type needs to be loaded at the top. Also consider that mods that fiddle with the same things may conflict with each other, causing issues such as long loading times as the game can't decipher which files to use. My best advice for anyone on any platform is to start small; load a few mods at a time and make sure they all work. Do this on a save you don't care about. Then, if it works, add a few more.

Just a heads up the Gamepass version is possibly the worst for modding. I'd recommend not following this guide at all in this case and just using the in-game mod menu, you'll save yourself a lot of headache. To explain briefly, the .exe for gamepass Fallout 4 is actually completely different and wrapped in extra security, meaning things like F4SE isn't possible to use with the .exe You can probably try putting in weapon and clothing mods, but anything requiring F4SE simply won't work. A way to test if your mods work is to see where the mod can be found or how, and then checking that in-game. That's probably the most foolproof way

Yep, it should be up, it's a matter of other mods updating to the new script extender now though. It's also possible to rollback, which is how I'm still playing this mod list
