Whenever I try to run the game on nvse with more than one mod it just says: failed to initialize render Your display doesn’t support the selected resolution. And then it tells me to select a different resolution in fnv launcher under display settings what do I do

Error A prefix for the selected game could not be found. What do I do? Edit: Okay, I got past that by launching the game first and then closing it and continuing with the install (you should add that to your guide dude), but then I got an error at the end that the install was terminated and to check the logs. It looks like everything downloaded, I guess I will have to see once I install mods if they work.

Make sure it's installed on SSD NOT SD CARD took me a long time to figure it out

@@vizioax2There’s a popup around that point explaining that in order to create a new preset you need to set the Proton thing to Proton 8.0 (as of today) then run the game, then exit the game. After that the whole prefix thing should be set up and you shouldn’t see that popup anymore

I’ve been contemplating getting a Steam Deck someday. They’re a lot of value for a handheld and you can even go as far as emulate classics which is insane.

It's honestly kind of crazy. I'm emulating nes, snes, n64, wii, wiiu, switch, sega Genesis, Dreamcast. Ps1, ps2. And Xbox. It's crazy that this thing will play modern day pc games and it's also an emulation powerhouse! I have been extremely happy with my steam deck. I've also been playing tons of old pc games and it's been a pleasure.

@@partriotism yeah but people claim it can run triple A games but it can’t even run fortnite which isn’t that graphically intense also it struggles with wii u BOTW emulation so i doubt switch emulation would work well at all. it can do a lot sure, but for the $600 i spent it’s an underpowered device it’s not exactly impressive to be able to emulate older machines when my $300 iphone can do it too, i was expecting it to be able to play some modern pc titles but it struggles with most games from 2017 or newer

@@imstupidbut I see your point. I did beat red dead redemption switch version and I play tons of wii u games (haven't gotten to BOTW yet) and I beat read dead redemption 2 on the deck. I am super happy with it and think it's quite capable for the footprint. I would be disappointed if I thought it would play certain games and then found out it couldn't though.

Tried doing this and no matter which version of proton i click to use it does says your display does not support this resolution but when i click on the options for resolutions there is only one option

Okay so a fix for anyone who runs into this problem in the future delete anything relating to NVSE in the FNV local files, should install just fine after that. Sorry that no one else bothered to mention this let alone a warning on this video that this just doesn't work anymore... Godspeed future modder.

Wow. Excellent timing. I decided to buy a steam deck a weak ago for the sole purpose of playing F:NV with mods. Spent the first hour blind trying to install FOMM. Next two hours following guides on KZbin. Another hour troubleshooting until I found your comment. You rock, it’s working now. Having Konsole open I see lots of unimplemented code but I am assuming it’s nonessential. I guess I will find out.

I got MO2 up but how do I add mods to it? I click the install mods button but the directory where the mod zip files aren't there. It's like pulling up C drive , D drive ,etc. Not the steam deck storage folders

You should really slow it down, protontricks doesn’t even work just says it appears to not have access, troubleshooting possible issues would help.

I downloaded the sprint mod but nothing happened when I put it in mod organizer 2? Followed all the instructions and everything went well. Just before the game launches a small window say "mod organizer is locked while the application is running" then it asks me to "unlock" it. I'm guessing I should click unlock right?

With the 4.3.0 version of MO2 it doesnt allow you to download some mods because the version of xNVSE is out of date. Any idea around a fix for this?

I'm not familiar with that sorry, Only error I ran into was with the initial setup of MO2 so I had to "run in console" a 2nd time like I talked about in the video. Did you do all the other stuff such as: Running the game once before installing, making sure the games on the internal SSD, setting it to the proper protontricks compatability version, etc.?

@@magutin I figured out the solution a while back, I can’t remember the exact steps I took but it was basically following the instructions in this video and then I believe I had to manually update MO2 to the newest non linux version. If you want I will find out the version tomorrow and edit this comment.

@@zacparker8681 Thanks, but I've already figured it out too) in my case, it helped to install 4gb patcher in the root folder with the game. it turned out that the problem was in NVSE

Is Skyrim Vortex Mods broken now after the last update? I followed everything and Skyrim still tells me I have the wrong update because I have AE. Maybe I should downgrade?

I'm honestly not sure. For that video specifically, I was using the AE so in theory it should work. But I'm not sure if a recent update has borked it all or not. Sorry

Nvse is required for most mods to function but that's simple to install just download the latest version and drag the files into the game folder. As for 4GB patcher I recommend doing this if your installing any mods as it prevents CTD's and the game from running out of memory.

Where do you have the game installed? If its installed on the SD card, MO2 will NOT work it must be installed on the decks main hard drive for MO2 to findnit

You can launch the game in gaming mode yes, it just will bring up the MO2 program instead of the usual launcher. Pressing launch will get you in game.

Some of the mods need certain requirements before being able to download them, do we need to follow them before we set it up?

If your downloading a mod that states it needs certain requirements such as other mods to work then I recommend you download them as well to avoid CTD's

Yes you can, but I ran the TTW installer on a Windows machine first, then converted it into a zip file to be installed inside MO2

@@cykosloth6800 basically if you have a PC, install and mod it there and then just copy it over to the deck. That's the "best" way so far. Otherwise, getting Mod Manager 2 to work on the deck will also enable you to start modding it 1 by 1. There are no easy step guides though as they all seem to have been affected by updates from the deck. So you'll have to pick and choose which ones you need and try to get them in. I recommend Stewie Tweaks so you can quicksave/quickload using the back buttons
