How To: Mode Select (Channel Shortcut) on Motorola APX Radios

Setting up Mode Select, or channel shortcuts, on your Motorola APX portable or mobile is really quick and easy, and is a very handy feature. So long as your APX radio has a full keypad, this will work.
There are only two things you will need to do to get this going, and that's enable the feature in CPS, then assign the channels from your radio's keypad. Here's how:
IN CPS:
-Fire up the CPS, load you codeplug
-Navigate to Radio Ergonomics, Controls, Keypad
-Assign whatever key you want with whatever Mode Select
-Write the codeplug to the radio
ON THE RADIO:
-Navigate to the channel you want to save
-Long press the key you want it to save to (you will hear a beep)
-Done!
Set all the channels you want with a long press, and a short press will take you there.
If you were to re-write you codeplug after all this, it may remove your channels from the keys and you might need to set them again. I've seen some radios wipe them, I've seen some radios keep them, so your mileage may vary.
