In all the years I’ve been crocheting you really are the only person I’ve come across who has shown in detail, in a way to make people understand the design aspect of making shapes in a simple manner, you should rename yourself, uncomplicated knots.😂 I love that you show examples in different colours to emphasise what you’re trying to teach, for visual learners that will make the pieces fall in place for sure. I honestly appreciate this kind of content, so many people do tutorials (which is wonderful) but they don’t actually show people the depths of a project, just how to follow along with them. Great video looking forward to seeing the next. 👌🏼🫶🏼

In my scouring of youtube to find ways to create my own types of amigurumi you're the first I've found that has gone in such incredible detail on how to reshape and create patterns. I've learned a little on my own but tutorials like this are definitely the best way for me personally to learn. Thank you so very much for this video and I cannot wait to watch part 2 and learn even more!

This is incredibly helpful and breaks down shaping in a way that I can finally understand. I’m great at following patterns, but understanding how everything is happening is crucial if I ever want to design something. I’m excited for part two! I hope it includes irregular curves, like the kind needed to go from a head down to create a muzzle. Thanks so much for this little series!

Okay, watched! Very excited for Part 2! Personally, I am all for going deep into the maths, and am crossing my fingers that happens in the next installment. Also! I know that due to working in the round, amigurumi stitches tend to gently spiral/stack diagonally. When you're only doing evenly spaced increases and decreases that's not cause for consideration, but I would very much like some in depth info on how to account for that stitch drift when doing advanced shaping.

Again, another " teach how to create our amigurumis serie" so well done!!!! After so many years makibg otgers patterns, its been a couples of years I have 1-2 ideas I would lije to try design mysrlf, cuz I didnt find them nowhere Somehow, THIS particular video , ( with the olders ones in complement) really motivate me to GIVE IT a Try !!! So, I will start little drawings while waiting for part 2!!! Lets hope I will still have the " . " to go for it! Ps: I would like to first try my hand at recreating Gumby, from Gumby and Pokey a 1960-1970 tv cartoon, ( there is video of them on youtube) I never saw nobody crochet properly. The difficult part, I think, is the gives it a similar 90degrees angles shape type for his legs for exemple. I know crochet amigurumi is better with more " organics shapes" , but, at least aimibg for this type of shape After all, Gumby is made of plasticine.

yeeesss !!! more amigurumi design tutorials i love this series. this is awesome !! aagghhh ive been putting off learning amigurumi for a while now. just been making flat crochets. so i am definitely gonna try it out asap. i do have one question though. do you yarn under or yarn over to make your stitches? im kinda confused about that. PS: at 5:10 as a coder i just cant help but look at this and think of programs. except for humans instead of computers. also when i heard the word slope i got very excited. maths is inescapable in crochet >:D thank you for making our thursdays
@ComplicatedKnots Жыл бұрын
I consider "playing with excel" a hobby, and I try not to say it too loudly, but the way I format my patterns is driven by algebra XD I mostly yarn under! Give you a tighter little square of a stitch. I can be a little inconsistent with it for long shoots sometimes, so if it's watching me that's confusing you, know that I am aiming for "under".
@nyuh Жыл бұрын
@@ComplicatedKnots ahh so its yarn under. thanks for responding !! really cool that even the formatting has algebra ^w^

Hey! You are the best, your videos are sooo incredibly helpful ❤️ I’ve got one question tho, why did you go from (sc, inc) to (5sc, inc)?
@candledapple Жыл бұрын
Hi! I had recently watched your tutorial on how to make amigurumi patterns larger, and this video actually touches on something that stood out to me. In the other video, the "fill in the gaps" step just filled everything left in with rows of single crochets, which I was wondering if it would leave a sort of jagged appearance similar to the first bee tail shape? Would it be smoother to try to calculate out those "gap" rows? I know that the "gaps" they're filling in would probably be more complicated to calculate out since they're inbetween the more complicated rows, but just was curious if it might be worth it!
@ComplicatedKnots Жыл бұрын
I prefer to recalculate the rows for smoother details, but depending on the size, proper stuffing hides a lot of stitch issues :)

I have a question! When is it better to sew different parts together vs making a body that has integrated parts? I've seen patterns that have things like bunny ears or axolotl tails as different pieces and some that have them as part of the body. What's better?
@ComplicatedKnots Жыл бұрын
The one major advantage integrated/no-sew patterns have is consistency: anyone trying to follow the pattern is going to end up with all their pieces in the exact same place. With patterns that need sewing it can come down to craftsmanship and taste, and a lot if ppl really hate sewing. I will say that if you are starting out, break your shape down into as many basic pieces as you can. It will make it a lot easier.

Start with the 2nd row instead! So if R2 is 6[inc] for 12 stitches, replace it with a magic ring of 12sc. You may need to finish on the 2nd last row too. Hope that helps! :)
