This worked ok for me but two wheels required me to reduce the spring height in the center which means removing the wheels anyway.

Too much hassle... I recommend removing the spring. It can be easily done in 5 minutes. You take wheel out, lever the wheel off with a fixed wrench and the spring will come off.

I attempted that, but the wheel started to break and I didn’t feel like risking having to buy a whole new chair base. Based on other folks’ experiences, I get the impression the wheels are easier to remove now than when when I bought mine back in June 2020

fucking ikea is wasting the world's time collectively... let's say they have sold 10,000 of these chairs world wide.... each person spends an hour modifying the chair... that's 10,000 hours of useful hours lost

I ended up removing the wheels entirely because my floor isn’t level and I kept rolling to one side of the office lollll

Your video is bad. You should just take out the wheels then you have all the time and space to do it with anything. Even your kitchen knife. If you don’t know how to get the wheels out then go search how.

Thanks for the input. I didn't remove the wheels because when I tried to pry them off, it looked like they might break so I decided not to risk it.
