Hi, Matt. Did something change in Fusion360 in 2020? - In my case, a SolidWorks assembly files uploads alone with an error. Also, when I upload the assembly file along with the reference part, Fusionj360 doesn't recognize them as reference part. Rather, the app considers them individual files and they only open in browser.
@101lager5 жыл бұрын
Every file I try to import just opens the web browser, and also doesn't ask for referenced files when importing assemblies, what could be the issue?

Lars, there's a refreshing commonality to your videos. You give a lot of thought pre-record to making your content complete (i.e. you're not winging it and coming up with what to say on the fly). Thanks for the 10 min break and new skill knowledge, now I have to get back to work.

Hi. When I upload Solidworks file into Fusion 360 and double click on it, it automaticly opens in my internet browser in a new tab, on Fusion 360 website. Anyone knows why, and how do I open it in Fusion 360 program?

I cannot find a video from you or anyone on how to modify an skp file from Sketchup in Fusion 360. I imported it the way you show in this video. When it comes in it is pink in color. When you imported your Solidworks file it looked normal. Did I forget anything? How can I fix this?

Is this feature still supported with the "not for commercial use" version? I can up load and see the file but it will only open in a browser for viewing instead of in Fusion.

Great video - I have problems with bringing in STEP assemblies and creating separate part files from them. Ex. in a machine design we would use the same component in several machines. The natural thing is like here, to bring the assembly in, and work from there. Lets say in your file here that the clamps that you imported from SolidWorks needed to go into a work holding library (or it was ex a pallet system that needed to be in the same position for all the products you make); then how do you do that? In our other CAD system (Alibre) we get discrete files in, and can replace components, but as far as I know we cannot in Fusion.
@Festivejelly6 ай бұрын
If you're wondering no you cant edit the design table. But you can manually edit the parts.

Second try, just to be sure Lars has seen it: Hi Lars! Please, make a video on how to handle warnings and errors. Is the nester add-in still the best way to nest sheet metal parts for machining? Or is there something integrated in Fusion nowadays? I can't even find nester in the F360 app store so I assumed there was a reason
@cadcamstuff5 жыл бұрын
There are no incorporated nesting at this point. I have to admit that I have never looked at the add-in section for one, so I’m not sure. I would think nesting will be in the future of fusion(I’m far removed from those decisions) as the technology is in Inventor and therefore in the Autodesk’s hands.

I ran into this yesterday. I have a giant folder of parts and assemblies, including an entire library of thousands of parts from a vendor. The files I need to open only use a few, but I do not have SolidWorks to see which ones. Opening one of the assemblies in Fusion as you did tells me to also upload the required files. I have no idea which files are needed, and I'm not prepared to upload gigabytes of data and thousands of files through Fusion. Any solution?

I am really facing issue with the file that is being imported. i have a solidworks assembly file of a universal joint, which is made of 3 parts file inside the solidworks, now i want to open it in the fusion 360, but if i dorectly upload this assembly file along with the parts as said in the videos, iam getting the exact object which i have created inside the solidworks, but the joints are removed, that means, 3 parts are now moving independetly, i even have tried by uploading the .PART file of assembly file created in solidworks , still same issue, can anyone tell how to solve it ???????????????????????????????
@cadcamstuffАй бұрын
SolidWorks joints will not be available if you open the assembly in any other software, as far as I'm aware. It is pretty normal for CAD packages not allowing those being exported. You will have to re-attach everything in Fusion.

This is false advertising as fusion 360 is able to modify Solidworks files. Instead it is importing them to a different format, and then modifying this new format without the ability to resave them as Solidworks files.
