You know what would've been perfect, if you would've lined somebody up after you were doing modifying the blade, that way people would actually see that this works if you could do that that would be great

Ok I thought I share how I do my blades because it's easier and faster.I put a grinding stone bit on my drill and clamp it down on a vise.I grind my blade down that way and use a metal polishing bit on the trimmers after to clean up any defects I might of made and believe me it work.I even got Wahl t pro liners that I've grinded down and they hit so hard it's crazy.Wahl t pro is the cheap ones from Walmart.My friends be in aww when I show them liners on my face and how crispy the lines come out.

Thanks for the tip my friend. How often should I sharpen my blades? After how many cuts. Some one said once every 3 months??
@BlackWidowRazors
@BlackWidowRazors 7 жыл бұрын
It all depends on how much hair you cut. every 6 months if you have a high volume of clients. do not use them to bald out your clients, that is a sure way of dulling the cutting blade in two months or less. Hope this helps.

+BarberToolz When modifying a blade are you using all three of the stone grades to get a new finish on the blade. Or are you just using the roughest grade of the stone and that's it. Because I would start from rough, medium, and finish to complete a blade.

Eric Stuart great question. I use all three side to get the very best results. Thank you for pointing that fact out. We appreciate you. Barber love 100%

Does this really work? I can’t see how it would help but maybe I’m missing something. The way a clipper works shouldn’t zero gapping make it cut closer not from the other direction by doing this mod?
@josh2676
@josh2676 4 жыл бұрын
Making the teeth skinnier makes the distance from the outside of the teeth to the point where the cutting blade is chopping off hair more closer. Zero gapping makes close hits because the tip of the teeth are the skinniest point compared to at the bottom of the teeth are the thickest part. This is all just like sharpening a pencil

I am most definitely doing this I spent 30$ on a lil piece of plastic that only makes the tip of the blade shine, basically that's all it does, my blade was cutting the same after "modifying" it smh you can tell from just looking at the tip of the blade when you were done sharpening it that it's going to work because you can see how flat and thin the tip of the blade is and that's what you want you want the stationary blade and cutter blade to come to a perfect angle together and this does exactly that thanks for sharing this wish I would have seen this before wasting my money I would've saved me 20 bucks smh

becominglikeminded you're absolutely right I bought that 1 min blade modifier and it was so dumb I wasted my 30$ it didn't do nothing to my blade it literally messed up my blades if anything smfh

Vince Vince what is a good way to get rid of the burr on a trimmer blade! Maybe rubbing a Brillo pad for a while? I don’t think a strop would reach far enough.

@BlackWidowRazors
@BlackWidowRazors 7 жыл бұрын
If your clippers are pulling hair, take the cutting blade and use the mid grain (gray stone) in a figure 8 motion only and do the same to the guard as well. Make sure to clean both parts and oil them before use. I have found this technique extremely useful in the past. this should take you 5 min. Let me know how it turns out. figure 8 motion 30 secs
@BlackWidowRazors
@BlackWidowRazors 7 жыл бұрын
Mr. Rios try sharpening them in a figure 8 motion. clean the two side off with cool care and oil them. allow your machine to run for 1 min. let us know if this has helped you.

becominglikeminded I completely get what you are saying. However, I've had the same issue in the past. Sharpened my cutting blade and it would cut like a hot knife through butter.

shabootyboo I think they are meant to be flat but they aren’t going to get them perfect trying to spit out thousands of trimmers. Bottom blade and top blade need to be as flat as possible to ride on top of each other. If you sharpen too many times yeah eventually your blades are going to need replacing. I’ve never heard of clipper blades having a geometry other than flat on the flat side. A knife on the other hand has angled sides.

Looks good until you actually put the blades back on the clipper and try to use them. This is when you realize that you've messed your blades up. Then it's off to amazon or ebay to order a replacement blade....$$$

@@BlackWidowRazors You must be one of the luckiest cats on earth. Me and several of my partners have tried this technique and ruined several trimmer blades trying to get them to hit...?
@robertphillips9017
@robertphillips9017 3 жыл бұрын
You must have a flat stone. Ceramic stones work best but a good set will run $250-$300. You’re better off buying a new cheap clipper. Also you flatten the back, not the front. The cutting edge is on the back side of the blade.
