You forgot to mention something vital: *Keep all of your weight on the pointed-down toe of your stationary foot!* That allows for your other foot to slide/glide easily across the floor without digging into it and causing you to get stuck or stumble backwards. Also, lean forward to help "sell" the illusion and evenly distribute your body mass, thus maintaining balance. Remember, the whole concept of the moonwalk is to make it appear as though you are attempting to walk forward all the whilst being pulled back by an invisible force. More advanced dancers should put their head, shoulders, arms, and wrists/hands into it, as Michael really utilized his entire body to execute each dance move(for instance, he would oftentimes repeatedly extend his neck out and in over the duration of a moonwalk - just watch some of his performances)!
