Fantastic tutorial! Work perfectly! Is there a method to use motion track into Final Cut Pro ? I mean, if I have Motion, can I use the tracking function directly in Final Cut Pro without saving the video from Motion and then import it into FCPX?

There's manual ways to track in FCP with keyframes. Motion's "Match Move" cannot work directly inside FCP. However, there are third party plugins that provide this. I believe FxFactory has one of them.

Hey, great video! I'm struggling a little bit with my motion tracking. The text follows the analyzed path, however it loses the track after a while. How can I correct single movements?

Inside the Behaviors Inspector: Try adjusting the "Look Ahead Frames" setting in the Match Move behavior. Also, under "Anchor", you can adjust the search size, track size, fail tolerance, and familia's behavior. See if any of those settings help.

its pretty straight forward for this video, but when there is a lot of motion, motion track gets lost, and then we have to place every keyframe to its place, which is kind of key framing, BTW very helpful video for simple straight moving shots

That’s not necessary. However, they do need to tighten the roundtripping (like how it is in Premiere).

I just wish that they would add more updates to FCPX that make it more advanced. I love how simple it use to use, but in some cases I am forced to switch to premiere or after effects.

At the bottom of the Inspector, look under Anchor and Rotation-Scale. There's advanced controls for fail behaviors and tolerance.

Yes. There are ways to manually track in FCP X, and there's also 3rd-party plug-ins. As for Motion, the Match Move behavior does not translate into FCP X.

Do clips, step-by-step. Or import a low-res video (which may be more manageable). Motion can handle big videos, though. I’ve used it with larger files. What’s causing you to not load the whole video?

So i have a 3min videoclip. i tried to load it on motion , and it limits me only for a few seconds...So should i export from final cut a scene then edit on motion and bring back to final cut? i guess i have to do it for the whole video... it sucks ! lol

What exactly is limiting you? Motion can handle videos of theoretically any length. Make sure your project duration is set to the appropriate length. The shortcut to open the project properties in the Inspector is Command-J.

You can use a behavior which animates the scale, or you can keyframe the scale property inside the Inspector.

Yeah, looking back at this, I feel like I should've stuck to one of my other formulas: show a basic example, then an advanced example. I may have to revisit this. I do plan on doing other tracking tutorials that have more to do with 3D space and camera solves.
