Lenny, the circle in Holosun optics serves a second,, very important function. . If you're at distance from a target and the dot is either hard to see or covers too much of the target, the circle then delineates "the zone" and you just put your target inside that 32MOA circle and you're on your man-sized target. This is particularly helpful when covering carbine/rifle/shotgun distances. And yes, the circle *does* direct your eye to the center dot much more easily than searching around without it. You can "get there" but, it's harder. There are some famous old timers on you tube who disagree with the "dots are faster" philosophy but, what people need to remember when they see these videos is that these guys have been shooting iron sights for decades. That's how their brains work and converting to optics goes against more than their eyes, it's their mental perception. Newer shooters will need to equally try and judge both for themselves and decide what they like, optics or open sights but, the edge definitely lies with the optics and the Holosun is the absolute champ for the money and, I think, at any price.

The Glockstore website says the current price for that on a 43x MOS is $75. Figure that an adapter plate will cost $35 to $50, I'm going to send mine in to get machined down by the GS and buy the Holosun 507K in green from them too.

I am a Glock nerd, carried them on duty for about 20 of my 26 years. My first agency was scared. Glock is not known for being point-and-shoot. They are known for not being that. You carry them for utter reliability, including the magazines, and the ease of maintenance . The Sig 320, HK VP9, and Smith M&P pistols are way more point-and-shoot with their grip angle. Glock takes some adjustment.

I love Glock... I own close to two dozen of them... You could almost say I "collect" them... They are my all around, favorite hand gun. ...the grip angel is garbage. It always has been. Not sure what ol Lenny has been puffing to think it's a natural pointing gun, but that stuff ain't legal in Tennessee.

I dremeled the screw for the holosun sign myself. In order to make sure the screw is short enough to NOT disrupts the firing pin mechanism would I need to shoot it or can I just dry fire and pop the slide off and pull the firing pin mech from underneath?

You can only cut down so far before you get too close to the internals. The screw to mount the optic would hit the extractor depressor plunger if we cut it that low. So, the optic will sit higher and need suppressor height sights to co-witness.

What screw length do I use for the holosun 507k/ precision weapons v4 mil adapter plate on a G43x to get the shield arms mags to work? I’ve heard that the right screw if it’s too long, messes with the extractor and won’t function the shield, arms mags, , yet it does function the stock Glock mags ? I’d really like the shield arms mags to work without malfunctioning I tried both and the shield, arms malfunction over and over yet the stock Glock mags function perfectly .

The slide cut and extractor have nothing to do with the Shield Arms magazines. The only issue with the magazines is the metal body can tear up the factory polymer magazine release button, so replacing the release with the alloy Shield Arms part is recommended. Using too long of screws to mount th optic can interfere with the extractor, but it's totally unrelated issue to the magazines.

I would hope you aren’t charging $175 just to mill down the front posts a little and remove the rear. That is NOT a full optic milling job. I searched for the SKU number you give in the video for it. I have a tiny gap on my direct mounted eps carry on my 43xmos. Its only seeable when a flashlight shined thru it. Any ideas? Thought maybe file down front lugs some more but dont wanna go too far

I just noticed the same problem with my 43x mos, I'm mounting the 407k Green dot on mine. I milled the 2 rear lugs then mounted optic. Looked in the lite and I see a gap, optic is higher on the front 2 lugs so essentially its pointing up not straight forward. I'm probably going to file a very small amount off and try it..

I have to say. I'm quite disappointed with The Glock Store. I came into the store in Tennessee and was met with a gentleman who was by no means rude but was overly confident in his knowledge of the 43x-48 platform. I asked about mounting plates for the 43x after seeing the EPS carry sitting in the glass case. I had full intention of buying it if they had the optic plate in stock. Immediately he said " we don't have them and you don't need them" I thought he was going to try and sell me this option viewed in this video, to my suprise he instead took the 43x mos out of the case as well as the EPS carry, and put it on the gun and cranked down the screws. I thought to myself, there is no way this works. No way, this sits flush with the slide... He confidently hands me to the gun with the optic mounted to the slide. Sadly, after quickly holding the gun the the light I could see the quarter sized gap of light shining through. I didn't have the heart to tell the "Glock Store" employee that he was very wrong and should probably not try to sell something he has no clue about. On top of it all, your company literally sells the option to mill down the slide in order to have the Holosun 507 k and EPS Carry footprint fit without the plate. I am no expert, I am what most would consider well rounded in this field, but please..if you are going to work in a gun store..especially one called "The Glock Store" please do some simple research on Glocks.

My EDC has been the Gen 4 Glock 26 which I won't comment on it's time out of it's holster, but I cannot for the life of me figure out why someone would put a red dot sight on a subcompact CCW/EDC firearm. I don't see it. (Pun intended.) Semper Fi.

For the same reasons they would put one on a full sized pistol, faster target acquisition and accuracy. Plus aging eyes typically have an easier time finding the dot as opposed to lining up irons.

I'm a 60 year old retired active duty U.S Marine and I can line up the steel oem sights on my Gen 4 Glock 26 and get a shot off by the time most find their freakin' dot. Competitive shooting is like vitamins and exercise for a gun owner. If I'm not shooting USPSA or IPSC it doesn't need a dot.

Look into the Holosun SCS it fits flush mount no plate needed to the mount it and you don’t have to change your sights it is co witness. Plus has a built in battery that charges with sunlight and inside light .

The perceived spee gains using a RDS is debateable. Becasue, while you are supposed to be "threat focused" you still need to look for the dot....which isn't definite. Maybe one day you can look down throw the window 10x and see the dot 10x immediately. then one day you see the dot 5 out of 10 times....so what IF in a defensive situation you take 2 sconds...to locate the dot where a second lost is critical...? Not that I onsider myself any kind of exert but...just SEEMS...like we should stick to "shooting basics" and irons (no batteryt o uddenly die at the wrong time). Besides (I hear) real world shootouts are at "point and shoot" distances anyways 10 yeard or less...usually less. Where getting 2" groupings cnetre mass is apipe dream as you're trying not to get shot by however many threats there are in your (civilians) 1st gunfight.... IMHO the RDS is the "current range toy of the month"...really only neede or useful for "shooting sports" when no one is shooting back....heh..

DO NOT send your slide to the Glock Store for mounting your optic , just either file the nubs on the slide down yourself (for the 507K) OR find ANY DECENT gunsmith and have them do it for you - I paid $25 and my gunsmith did it in about 10 minutes - The GS charges a TON of $$$$ and it is such a hassle too ! for what the GS charges you are better off buying a whole new slide & barrel already done

This was a terrible presentation on every level. So much wrong information. The plate adding a mm over the bore is insignificant and the dot probably doesn’t even have fine enough adjustment to change the difference. There is maybe some marginal advantage to mounting it directly because of having less parts to loosen. No the dot will not inherently make you faster or more accurate. There is some data showing that with training that it may lead to that but definitely no real data showing it is just better. There are also cons which you ignore completely. You are entertaining but really come across like a used car salesman. I say all of this as someone who is completely changing over to optics on all of my weapons so I’m not just anti optics. Also there are so many professionals who say that not only is cowitness pointless but actually just an obstruction to your sight. It at best is helpful if your lens breaks or your battery dies.
