We all want to know what our beloved bike is doing when we are not sitting right on it, right?
Well, with Apple Airtags you can always check where your bike is at the moment.

Thank you for taking the time and creating the video. It was informative. I have also removed the speaker from the air tag so they can not hear it. Then I welded it inconspicuously inside the frame, sanded and painted it. 😂It might sound overkill but when one spends thousands it’s well worth it, including a purchase of a really a good lock, insurance, and knowing where to park in the open not putting your bike habitually in the same area or riding the same path habitually and parking it in the same spot.

I would remove the internal speaker first ( Look for those videos ), then I would drop it inside the seat tube with some stick material, that way the thief would have a hard time pulling it out and give you more time to track it.

There are a variety of bike bell ringers that have a special water tight compartment for an AirTag.

What about putting the airtag in your tire between tube and tire? Shouldn’t affect tire as fairly flat and no sharp edges as you fill tire with air will hold in place?

Oh, I haven’t thought yet of putting one between tube and tire. I could imagine that one can feel when the wheel roles over the AirTag if the tube is pumped up to high pressure. It could work for mountain bikes.

danke für die tipps! habe mir ne schwarze silikonhülle zum festziehen bestellt, ist auch relativ dezent (schwarz auf schwarz) und platzsparend so dass es sogar vorne unter den sattel passt. so kann man den airtag wenn man von hinten auf den sattel schaut nicht sehen.

The battery (a simple CR2032 which you can get everywhere) lasts one year so if you fix it too tightly you have to take a lot of effort to replace it.

I had my road bike robbed couple months ago, I did have an airtag inside my seat post (taped) bur still the robbers were able to find the airtag and remove it, I was surprised they found so fast like I could track on the day of the robbery but and on the next day signal was gone. It was a pretty bad neighborhood, cops did not do much. Luckily I had insurance. Good video though.

AirTag design was meant for people to find keys and purses etc., but not bikes. What we need on our bikes is an electronic adhesive card, like a decal with very strong adhesive. It would probably only need to be as thick as a credit card because you could fit all the chips and circuit board and a polymer battery within that amount of space. Charging the battery could be done wireless just like we do our phones. The thing could be made to look like the headtube badge and applied right to the headtube and if the thief tried to remove it it would take the paint with it. This is one way you would know if you were buying a stolen bike too. Why these bike manufactures don't come up with something like this is beyond me. They come up with lots of other stupid and worthless designs but won't add something to a frame that might really help stop bike theft.

Or actu*ally have a national registry, when bike is bought its automatically registered, and keeps it current and available to all POLICE, and pawn shop owners and buyers of bikes. All bikes must be registered to the State in which residing. *I hate that idea, but the police dont take it seriously, that is why it is so bad. The theif, gets accountability, by sentencing, civilly and by the OWNER. The idea of tracking devices is good, but hate the idea of being tracked when where or how I go somewhere. *big brother*big brother. If you sell a bike, you must register it, and you must LICENSE it, and keep it current*no fee. PLus more secure bike parking....

@@who346 You say no fees but there would have to be a fee to cover the cost of the program. Since my bike is a very expensive bike I would be all in but people with cheap bikes or children's bikes probably wouldn't bother so there again the police wouldn't give much effort to enforcing. So having something manufactured into the frame of the high value frames that can be scanned by anyone via an app on their smartphone is a very good easy way slowing down the stolen bike market.

you should never mount your airtag outside it will become totally point less , you need to think as a bike thief , so you need to hide your airtag INSIDE YOUR BIKE you should hide it inside your bike, "INSIDE" your bicycle frame , FORK, seat post , inside your bicycle saddle , inside handle bar remember "INSIDE" just make sure it stay hidden ,I manage to put 4 apple airtag and 2 momax Pintag "INSIDE MY BIKE " total six air tag I gotta say im very impress with the result it help track my bike within 3 hours after it got stolen last week and call police to help recover my bike within 5 hours it got stolen , and catch the thief think outside the box and be creative

Waste of time now ...As thieves will receive a notification How do you know if an AirTag is tracking you? To help you know if an AirTag is tracking you, your iPhone will notify you when an unknown AirTag is traveling with you. Once you tap the notification, you will see a map that shows when the unknown AirTag was first detected traveling with you

It's the same old story of probability and chance. With these you may have a chance of getting your bike back. Thieves can cut through bike chains too but it's about making their life more difficult.
