Today i ve learnt something important Ive been struggling with social anxiety recently but today i had an interaction with a girl.(Im girl too) I was so happy that i had the guts to open up and share common stuff. And i found out she likes videogames as I do and i felt good talkin to her and comfortable. Whatvi learnt today is that there s many people around me .i might feel uncomfortbale talkin to others but it is because we have nothing in common and i force myself to talk about things i dont like or dont know The right people will show up.

You’re right, I do feel empty when I ask nothing but questions about that other person. Like sure, I make them feel good for themselves but like you said “not emotionally connected to them” because they know nothing about me. But when they do ask, I do “mute” myself. I’ve followed what Dale C has said but I also have to apply and say what I love and like but with energy so that they remember. That makes so much sense, thank you Dr. Aziz.

Thanks for this! I'm actually going to spend thanksgiving with some extended family I've never met so this video couldn't have came at a better time. It may seem kinda rude to just sit in the corner and not talk to anyone so I'm going to practice this new tip today.

This video is for me!! I loathe small talk. I like being sociable, but in a natural more relaxed way. So many people (including myself) feel like we have to "furnish the silence" (with unnecessary filler words) and some of what we blurt out doesn't even make sense and feels awkward and out-of-turn. Whereas if we had just let a pregnant pause fill the air, something more meaningful or interesting could have been said. Plato said: "Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools because they have to say something." Good vid. Thank you so much.

Another awesome video from you..but i wanted to add something that showing alot of energy might be look like expressing neediness or wanting to amaze whoever I’m talking to and this is not something you want the other person to absorb from you

Tameem R. Mahmood Alshaker Excellent comment. I fully concur with you. It is better to be reserved and laid-back and a little mysterious. That way people are drawn to you more. The other way does come across as needy and a bit desperate. Also, it puts you under more pressure and appears people pleasing and ingratiating.

Dear Dr. Aziz Hello I wanted to ask you later in your lecture, you mentioned Dale Carnegie, personally I read his book, what do you think is his way successful, because I think he loses the assertive side within me, I would be very grateful if you could make a small order on the matter

Good stuff Dr. I plan on applying this knowledge with my future interactions with people. However, I tend to reveal tmi when meeting new people whether they are colleagues, clients, or romantic interests. Do you have any suggestions or a video about how to dodge or or ignore personal questions without coming off as rude or a dick?
