If you live in the suburbs, then aim to live within 5km of the beach is my advice. It will be cooler in summer. If you like inner city then you can go into some great suburbs 5km in either direction and will be accessible to city, shopping and restaurants. My advice is to embrace the sport and recreation culture in Perth. Go to beach. Do kayaking on river. Don't just spend your weekends at shopping centres and complain that shops aren't open every night. There isn't the demand for it and its not the culture. If you're swimming in ocean, make sure you can swim well. Ther is surf and rips and you want to stay safe. There are some great picnic sports and walkways along the beach and river and is the best place to be on a hot afternoon.

What are the good and safe suburbs in Perth which are about 10km-12km from the CBD. The 2nd hand car market has gone through the roof, a used Toyota Corolla cost about A$22K - A$25 now. Weekly groceries of $200 is excessive, even in Sydney it only about $150 for 2 person even with the high cost of living now.

I also think it might be because we get groceries from Woolworths and I’ve been hearing that Woolworths prices for produce is inflated. We don’t spend on junk food! So that explains the higher grocery costs too.

You can cut your grocery bill in half by not shopping at Coles or Woolworths, there are lots of Asian food shops like MCQ which sell common grocery items much cheaper.

Nice! Informative! I do wanna ask, hows the safety in Perth, especially at night? I'm looking to visit in a month or so and I've heard mixed things about the CBD area.
@skyearthyx Жыл бұрын
Hey! Walking outside at night in Perth definitely does not make me feel as safe compared to Singapore. They have bare minimum street lights when it comes to night time. The CBD’s actually better because there’s more people out at night. Outside of the city, it’s pretty quiet. But of course, if you’re talking about 2am, 3am on a Friday night or weekend, the CBD will get rowdy too. But relatively, I think Perth is rather ok safety wise) compared to places like Italy where you have pickpockets everywhere. The people here are very friendly & helpful too. Hope you enjoy your stay here!

It really depends on the quality of food you are okay with consuming and your caloric/nutrition needs. For me, I don't get junk/processed foods from the supermarket. Hope that makes more sense.

@@skyearthyx Some humble suggestions. Go and sign up for Costco membership and buy food there at a cheaper price BUT those food items will be in big quantity. For those shitting on Australia just somethings to note about why this is an appealing option to Singaporeans in general: If you’re in the rat race long enough, you understand the value of a more chilled city which values work life balance, people and the definition of your time. Money is one thing but I think the older I get, the basics are more important than the frills, such as night life and a city running till 10pm or 12 midnight. I used to enjoy these things when I was younger but as time passes, more time with the wife and spending time with a family I hope to have one day has become my number one priority now. There is a reason why Singapore’s birth rate is so low, because it really is a non stop race to your deathbed, and you can feel it in the energy of the city as soon as you touchdown in Singapore.
@skyearthyx8 ай бұрын

@@skyearthyxone of the best things about Perth is the fact that it is more slow paced and relaxed. I would much rather live here than a humid hustle and bustle city where I feel lost in sea of people.
