That's why I prefer Microsoft Authenticator, they have a cloud back up to move your 2FA to a new device (recovery). I suggest having the app in at least two devices, just in case.

Hello Crypto Dad, Most of the time I live in a different country and have all my codes on the phone in the foreign country. I'm going back for a visit to the USA. I have a specific phone for the USA that doesn't have my QR codes on it. I'm thinking of transferring my codes to the US phone. Do I have to erase them on my other phone? Backup the QR codes. You can screenshot them and then save the pics on a flash drive in case you need to re-scan them. make sure you delete the pics from your phone. Many sites also provide a manual key that you can copy and store. You will see it during the setup process

u dont have the code on paper? the one they show when u set up authenticator, you always must write it down and guard, that way you can recover ur authenticator on any device

It's important to note that this method does not work transferring from iOS to Android and vice versa as the QR scripts are ran through the respective format of the phone attempting to export. Also, it's good practice (though less convenient) to have the 2FA codes on a separate device not connected to any networks. Great video in any regards!

@@Fast_Eddie_ a SIM hack wouldn't compromise GA. Only accounts that use SMS 2FA. Keeping GA on an offline device (no WiFi, no cellular network) significantly reduces the likelihood that the device with the GA 2FA codes is compromised by spyware/other malware.

Not Working. After I hit Export accounts on my old phone, I get an "To export your accounts first verify its you" There is just a blue line there & under that is just a numbered keypad. Never seen this screen before, no way to do anything. I don't have a password with just numbers (Numbers & letters yes)

In the latest version of Google Authenticator you cannot take a screenshot (for backup) of the QR codes it exports. It blocks it for security purposes.

Hi. Appreciate your chanal and trying to teach us not familiar with crypto. A question you might help me with...? I had installed Tron Link Pro on my computer. Tried to logg in, but wouldm' accepet the password, so I deleted it from my computer. When I download it again, I have to create a new wallet or restore. I'm going to try this on my next new phone. But when I switched to the phone I currently have a saw a video suggesting to log into your accounts and turn off 2FA. Get the app on new phone and turn back on 2FA and scan with new phone. It worked for me. I kept my old number though.

Rex I think you missed an important point here! You could also make a backup by printing out your QR code and scan them when you lose your phone and want to transfer them into new one. Currently this is a huge issue to restore all your codes when you lose your phone and some softwares have no backup codes. You could also transfer codes to you other device and still keep them on your old device. Would that mean it can be used simulteniously on multiple devices?

You're not done there at the end... you would want to go into the old phones "google authenticator app info page" and tap on "clear all cache" and "memory" for that App... the uninstalln the auth app from the old phone all together. And then there are still hidden cache files showing an existance of you having that app still at one point in time... so you'll want to download a reputable file cleaning app just to remove any residual junk files left over that were produced after the app deletion (just to be overly cautious but thorough.)
