I think the newer version as of 7/16/22 changed how you did that. I cut and paste an airport to my Edrive MSAddons folder and it asked to refresh but I saw nothing in the linker app window showing that the file is now in the MSFSAddons folder. Instead I right clicked on the community window inside the linker app and cut my airport from there. It asks if you would like to move this file to the "Custom Addon Folder" when I clicked yes it asked for the location of the custom folder and then the airport popped up in the MSFSAddons folder and then asked to refresh and then enable it. Then I got that green bar shortcut of the airport I moved showing in the community folder as the short cut! Thanks for pointing in the right direction! This is very useful!

Lumme ask. Can't a separate Community Folder be created in a different Drive where add-ons are stored while the original community folder only contains shortcuts to those add-ons?!!

Thanks for the video. I use a much simpler method. I just zip the file I want to remove from my community folder and cut and move the zip file to my MSFSaddons disabled folder. But this program you showcased makes it very easy for people.

And what if I wanted to move the entire contents of the Community folder in my already created folder S:\Community_Moj, to a brand new SSD. Later, delete all the content in the S:\Community_Moj folder? Can I just move the entire contents of the S:\Community_Moj folder to a new SSD? E.g. T:\Community_Addons? THX.

Another way without any 3rd party utilities is to create a symlink with the mklink /d command in the command prompt.

Yes, it is a great app, but a hard link is just a WAY simpler and quicker solution.

@@CristianCalhoun I haven't used this addon linker, but I notice that Orbx is also defaulting to installing to its own seperate folder now and creating a link (although you can still use the community folder direct). From other videos, the intention of the addon linker is to create a 'set' of aircraft, scenery etc and ONLY enable the links for those. That way MSFS loads a lot faster and should run better.

I quit using airport scenery if it isn't sold in the marketplace. Airports in the community folder are a major hassle every time there is a SU release. I have very little in my community folder these days.

I've been using Addons Linker since it's release, awesome tool. However I do wish I knew how to move the official folder content, like marketplace purchases, asobo paints etc., to another drive and not have FS2020 re-install all content upon every startup.

Everything previously associated with the Community and Official Folders is either symbolically Link or referred to in a respective path (i.e. Third party installation software) 99% of the time all is well. Although I have 3 2TB M.2 Drives on my PC does not mean most people do and so MS should allow us to install files in the folders of our choice.

I have a question, can I use this method to initially install a new addon like GSX Pro to the new folder instead of the Community folder because of the disk format of the Community folder is exFAT which is GSX Pro not supported.

I was having this issue. Since my community folder was located on my C: drive and the new folder is on the D: drive, the move was giving this error. As a fix, I zipped all of the addons and unzipped to the new folder on the D: drive. Once that was done, I then deleted the file/folder from the community folder. I hope this helps.
