You can also get a student visa by enrolling in a German language school for a certain number of hours as well.

@@sabafj369 Yes but one thing you need to pay attention to is that this VISA does NOT give you the right to work during your stay in germany and I heard it is not rare they reject said visa application because the german course level is not high enough ( What I was told is ideally you would want to register to at least a B1/ A2.1 course)

How does working remotely, ie doing online work for a company back at home (in this case the UK) fit in to all this in terms of the likelihood of still being able to get a residency permit? Ie to physically move to Germany, but continue to work for a UK company via online methods? Might they accept that?

I would contact the German embassy of your country and ask what would be accepted as proof. I know they have been quite helpful with applications from individuals whose ancestors fled Germany due to the war here in England. No idea how this is the case where you are from. Also, if you have any idea where in Germany your grandfather was from, you can contact the local council. It is very likely that they have some documentation about your grandfather being German.

@omayrasanchez2877
@omayrasanchez2877 4 жыл бұрын
Even though people colloquially say "tourist visa", you actually don't need a visa as a tourist. At least that applies to citizens from most countries in the world, there are of course exceptions. What's actually meant is the "visa free time" that you're allowed to stay here, which is usually (again, for most countries of origin, like eg. the USA, but not all) 3 months within any 6 months time frame. So you can stay in Germany as an American without any visa or paperwork for 3 months, then have to leave (the Schengen zone, not only Germany) for at least 3 months. However during this visa free stay you're not allowed to work obviously, but you could use this time to set up a registered adress and prepare for all the paperwork. Keep in mind though that only people from certain countries are eligible to do their visa applications from within Germany, in many cases you have to go through the German embassy in your home country.

It IS possible, but as you´ve just mentioned, we´ve been flooded with people without a proper education during the last 6 years and it´ll always be a big advantage for you if you already have an employer at the time of your arrival. Applying remotely is pretty easy nowadays, and there are tons of jobs for english-speakers out there. I wish I could get my hands on one of those, but they will always prefer a native speaker no matter what.

I am in the EU and i dont want to go to Germany. People are so rich they embrace the entitlement mindset. In the office they are oppressing you for being from a poorer country. They think they do you a favour to give you a job and smearing about you all the time. In the last 10 years i was not able to l ocate any positive things to live in Germany. I oroginally graduated as a german teacher. If you dont speak german they automatically do the favour to speak english. If they know you speak german and you make a slip of the tongue they fire you immediately. Very aggressive country with very arrogant people. If they know you speak german they WILL DEMAND you to only speak german. Not willing to talk english...
