The DTV has that lame rule that you have to leave the country after 180 days and do a border run in order to renew the visa. That's too much of a pain in the ass

What country are YOU from? How long does YOUR country allow foreigners to stay with a visa??? I seriously doubt your country allows foreigners to stay longer than 180 days. That's called RECIPROCITY. You (and I) are not entitled to more than what our own countries' offer visitors. You are not entitled to *special* treatment, even if you believe you are. Now you get a taste of what foreigners in your own country go through to live and work there.

@LearnGrowHealThrive As an expat that's been living in Southeast Asia for years, Well Said. Many forget that we're not entitled and that foreigners entering most western nations are subject to the same rules. Personally, I like border runs, they're like vacations.

Unfortunately, if you’re from USA wise won’t let you use their cards. Can’t remember what month I signed up for Wise. I could’ve gotten a card then, but some reason I waited a few weeks when I went back to the option it said it was temporary unavailable for Americans I guess it’s because of some BS, United States regulation .And good luck getting a bank account here if you don’t have a work visa. Try numerous banks. One bank said if I had a yellow book they would open it. Then I went to the government office in my wife’s city. They kept telling me I had to have proof that haven’t been in Thailand for a year and they changed the date months then they said well at least six months only been there a couple weeks at that time. i’m here right now on a O visa

I recently applied for the DTV and am waiting results. Question: when entering Thailand with the DTV, and knowing about the first 180 days, am I required to enter with a return flight ticket, or can I come in just with the one-way ticket to Thailand? I have searched for this info and found nowhere.

He is totally wrong, of course he is young but its unwise to publicly advise people when you have no knowledge or experience, the tax changes are currently a PROPOSAL and nothing is decided to date, even if the new tax rules are implemented it DOESN'T mean everyone would be taxed, it's a Remittance tax and wouldn't apply to many people, it's irresponsible to make the statement he made

I've never understood youtubers/tiktokers telling strangers on the internet to move to the place they're living at. Most people are boring af and anywhere that masses of people move to becomes very lame. Influencers should be telling everyone how dangerous and difficult Thai life is. That'd excite the cool adventurous types to move not the turbonormies.

You should reach out to the KZbinr who moved to Koh Samui a few months ago. He's from LA, a film industry guy, who retired at 50. Since he lives there, after several years of living in Bangkok, he's a wiser, more helpful contact. He spent a good chunk of the pandemic there in Koh Samui (Bangkok was just way too crowded). His channel is "Retired Working for You". He is NOT retired, but he doesn't work a regular job. He's well-connected. Go watch some of his videos. He took several months off after his move, while he was getting situated, but he's back at it recently. I don't really like the guy, but he provides good info.

From my understanding, British expats dont need ro pay taxes to the U.K. America has a citizenship tax, meaning we cant get away from taxes anywhere in the world. If we don't pay, they revoke our passport. However, America also has a double tax agreement with Thailand. Any idea how that works from your American friends?
