I just came back from Thailand after visiting my Son who moved last year to Bangkok, I also visited Koh Samui and Chiang Mai, in fact we switched Chiang Mai for retiring instead Javea in Spain, the major reason is the cost of leaving is very low and you money goes far away, also the city, the surrounded of Chiang mai very nice, freindly people, amazing food and fresh fruits that you can not get here in Germany. I saw so many videos and is difficult to make a video for each individual becuase everyone case is diffent in terms of financial and also expectation. But in general everyone who goes to Thailand you will love it.

Have lived in Vietnam for a few yrs already but now being back in the west and looking to get out again, I would choose Thailand to live UNTIL Vietnam catches up a bit more.. which it will! Amazing country, lovely people... but it just doesn't have a few of the things I personally, and everyone is different so it may work for you, am looking for... BUT I will still go to VN frequently while living in TH as I still know alot of people there... but again, each to their own.. VN is awesome but just not for me to live day to day... there are of course pros and cons of both.. it just depends what works best for you!!

Be careful mate I'm a few years younger than you (29) turning 30 in April. I'd like to have my first child around your age early to mid 30s, the problem with 'waiting until your ready finically' is the same excuse as not becoming a digital nomad until 'your ready'. Becoming a father would force you to make a lot more money, the drive will be life changing. Saying that, who knows maybe at your age I'll think different. It isn't an easy answer.
