As always. Interesting. Clearly explained. Destroying old instructions which has really hampered me for too long. Following your advice has helped me so much. When I get tired. Forget or lazily go back to what I’ve done for too long. Swing becomes a nightmare Great advice. Clear advice

@@jchowngolf true. Bloody difficult shifting all the bad things stuck in my head. Keep hips flat. Feet firmly on floor. Roll the arm over. 😂😂

Another excellent video, thank you. Your technical insight helps understand WHY we want to do something rather than blindly following instruction. I've always kept both knees bent for resistance but losing flexibility over the years I'm going to give this a try. I also struggle with hip slide and early extension and this will probably help. Sergio Garcia also keeps both knees very bent but he is an incredible athlete with fabulous control of his swing.

Brilliant, covered everything, i now changed to straight and hitting much better, thank you. I like to add a small pause at the top of the backswing, seems to work for me, initiates the hip move first and extra power. Combined wih straight trail leg awesome 👍

Great insight. I have found that if I straighten the trail leg slightly at set up it facilitates this turn and gives me the rotation you describe.

..I am one who has a lack rotation and power and could not understand why...as I have always kept my trail leg bent in the backswing....I will also slide forward to start the downswing ......I am now going to work on keeping that trail leg straighter at the top and starting the downswing with more of a feeling of power from ground pressure ............QUESTION: when exactly in the downswing should I feel my " lead " leg become straight ?...thanks much for creating this video.....

Your explanation is excellent. I´ve always straight my right leg to get more deph, but many times, specially when Im tired I got that complete lockout. How can I work on that? To not get to that?

SPOT ON Sir❗ I wasted sooooo many years following what teachers of 90's preached like- bracing the trail leg, X-Factor, bumping hips to drop the club into the slot (among other cliches).😵‍💫 The Great Old-Timers like Snead & Hogan did it right. They didn't keep their Rt. Leg bent. THANK YOU for your great presentation and explaining with such clarity❗

Thankyou for another great video. I'm working on improving my hip turn as shown. I'm also working on completing the hip turn earlier ( without pulling the club on the inside) so I can transition earlier and counteract a slightly long arm swing and tendency to hang back....any thoughts on when to complete the hip turn v arm swing?

Ernie Els also teaches a bent right leg. His book is a good one “how to build a classic swing”

The vast majority of players from his era will preach the bent trail leg. It can be done very successfully, but it should have a “use with caution” sticker attached to it 😂

Right now I am transitioning to a straight leg approach. I played corporate golf (5x year) with flexed leg to a 15-18 handicap (as I was told to make sure the client would win) and my lower back is worse for the wear.

The right knee will naturally re-flex to start the downswing 👍🏼

It all depends on the era the pro learnt golf in. Remember these top guys are extremely gifted athletes

Most golfers aren't pros. This also depends on instructor. I've been told to do both at various times. It also depends on fad. We see more Pro's straightening right leg now.
