I have watched so many youtube videos on early extension. There are 100’s of them from ‘coaches’. Paddy doesn’t even know/ use the term ‘early extension’, but this is the most compelling and easily understood video of the issue. So good. He really brings home the value of a Player Coach who has no objective rather than help. Incredible. Thanks so much.

I can't recall hearing an instructor say that you need to get the right hip higher because it facilitates the weight shift into the front leg. @beimsteiner2 жыл бұрын
This is mastery, manifesting experience of the inside forces and anatomical movements/relationships in the swing. It's like having Jigoro Kano explain a judo hip throw. Many teachers will show one or two parts of the motion, but they hardly ever connect the pieces for everyone to see at once and show how and why they're linked. Padraig doesn't have the time to do a 500 part series with a little snippet every three days, so here it is, the whole hip/torso shebang, with no ornamentation or distraction. Hips don't lie!

Paddy, I'm now 62 years old. Started trying to learn golf late in life (mid 20's) and was never able to play much at all over the next 35 or so years, due to work and familial commitments, and financial restrictions as well. I've recently been able to retire and now have the ability to play the game regularly, and so I've taken to really studying the game in every aspect that I can, via videos such as yours here on KZbin. As a single man, I have a golf mat in my kitchen, which allows me to hit full shots into my living room, into two heavy woolen blankets hanging from a curtain rod. I've found that finding the top position of the backswing (for my body) is easy. It's everything that comes after, that tends to be difficult. Your video here has, I think (I need to take it to the driving range) unlocked the final piece of the puzzle that I was looking for, to get my "timing' just right. Thank you so much for making this video (and others; I'm now a subscriber), to help an entire world of duffers, play better golf. God bless ya' Paddy. Press on and play more great golf! You have a new #1 fan! :)

Lot of respect for you Paddy! I'm on my way to 66. Last year I started prepping for retirement golf. I had not played regularly for years. Experimented and do the exact opposite of what you say. I actually bend my knees at address, then initiate my swing by bending my right leg more. The whole swing is leg driven. I play off the regular tees, have since I started playing regularly beaten my longest drives ever on many holes and succeed in breaking 80 now and then. I thought I must look odd but see many pros addressing the ball with bended knees and then bending the right more in the backswing. You preach what I suppose is textbook but there are many odd balls out there who do ok. Keep up the good work!

I would like to echo Brian's comment just below. I have played for over 50 years off 4 or 5 handicap for almost all of it and have never heard this level of clear analysis of what we should be trying to do (and WHY) with the hips, hip flexors, glutes, the right leg on the way back and on the way down, the left leg through impact and WHY you shouldn't just straighten the left leg at impact in an attempt to look like a good player .....unless you want a very sore back and knee surgery! Also his explanation of the hips staying CONNECTED to the upper body, but LEADING the upper on the downswing, while not racing so far ahead that they are completely disconnected is super-helpful. This is one of the great KZbin golf gems. Brilliant Padraig, thank you.
