How to Navigate Folders in a FANUC 31i/32iB Control

Hello, good afternoon. I have a drill that uses the same FANUC 31i Model A computer. I would like to ask two things: Does this model work with some kind of key? When I try to load a file from memory or any other source, I get this red message: "CHANGE TO EDIT MODE." Thank you very much for your help.

I get the pathways, but what does the background pathway do? And does the foreground and background pathway have to be the same?

When inputting/outputting programs, FG and BG folders should match. However, background edit is typically used to access and edit and separate program within the CNC while a part program is currently running. This way you can multitask by changing a program without interrupting production. Whenever you are done with BG edit functions, always select BG ALL END to exit from the BG edit function.
