Hi Erin, Id like to thank you for helping me land my first job! I saw ur videos on interviews after my second year at uni ended (where i failed to get a bunch of internships) and this year ive just been applying like crazy and it got so demoralising at times to constantly apply that at this point i was burnt out and tired of it all. I managed to get a few interviews and your advice really helped me in figuring out what the interviewers wanted to hear, the sort of questions i should ask and how i should respond. So thank you so much!!

Honestly, One of the best videos I've seen. I'm really shy and introvert, I know I have to network but I'm always so afraid to do that because I think I don't have nothing to show to the person. I've been procrastinating networking for so long (because to be honest, I find it kind of cringe) but now this video has really motivated me. Thank you so much for this helpful video Erin!

Being persistent is key. I've found that only about 1-2 out of every 10 people will respond back, but the rate of people that connect is much, much higher. While we might have someone specific in mind to talk to, their network of relevant people should not be discounted! Keep pushing ahead and you just might find what you've been looking for. This is great advice for those that see LinkedIn as a convoluted platform.

This is super helpful. I’m always sending my boyfriend your videos because he wants to be a freelance documentary filmmaker as well. I didn’t know you worked at National Geographic, I’ve recommended him to try to work there since we’re big Nat Geo fans. Anyways, love you Erin!!

Really appreciate all the advice you shared and I have sent you a LinkedIn connection request as my first immediate step. Cheers! - Agasthya Rana

Hi Erin! Thank you so much for this video - it’s incredibly helpful. When it comes to tailoring your profile, do you have any advice for what to do if you are applying to different types of positions, for example Client Account Manager roles vs Operational Management vs Team Lead Roles? How do you tailor your profile if you maybe are making a career change and are exploring different pathways which your experience may be suitable for?

Hi Erin, for people looking for a job and turning on the feature of actively searching, it is for Premium only but I selected the filters you said and not that one, then I went through the people to see the ones who are hiring.

Because let’s be honest there just isn’t any authenticity a lot of times not to your or the other person fault. A lot of times everyone out for themselves which makes sense. Compare to finding people you had a connection with in the past and randomly saw on LinkedIn
@lousassle93874 ай бұрын
Think of it like making friends in real life. Should you stop trying to make friends altogether just because a few random people didn't click with you? Even if the people you sought out might not have much in common or need your connection, they might have others in their network. It's good to know friends of friends.

Quite the nice perspective on the matter :o Thank you for the valuable tips, Erin! I still have a problem with networking in it's more... transactional form... But hopefully these tips help in the pursuit of real professional connection :) And one thing is for sure, giving help and genuine interest when possible, even in comments, does return in the most unexpected but most delightful of ways :)

The problem with this video is the same problem I observed with LinkedIn when it was new: There are almost no articles or posts on LinkedIn worth reading or that deserve a compliment. If I want to know something, why would I go to LinkedIn and not to a professionally published source or editorial?
@theyoftheravens4 ай бұрын
Honestly, I follow pages like NASA and such bc they have actually cool information, I can like those posts (so it shows me as.active on the site), and it's not a bunch of circular handshaking ego puffing that irritates me lol.

Hey Erin, can you please make a video or short on how to salvage a bad interview? I had my first interview in months and I messed up! 😭 I was so nervous, so I fumbled the words (it was not in my native language) and I lost track of what I was trying to say. At the end the guy said that he thought I lacked the depth of experience that they were looking for 😭💔 Can I email them better answers to the questions I messed up? Or is it a lost cause?

Good God this sound exhausting. As someone that has a hard time with being kind of fake with people I don't know well or at all, this is going to be a struggle.

I can relate. I hate these kind of things but hey, gotta adapt yourself with the changing world :)
@Thregh2 ай бұрын
I think people send these straight to the point messages, because people are bad at responding in general. You can send a bunch of personalized messages, and still get no response. Or a response that is only half committed, like the responses in the vid. I notice directly if someone replies to me and they seem to not care. Short questions are better, because people don’t read more than 10 words nowadays. (And I don’t want it to be that way)

I’m so done with all these job hunting tips, the system is messed up when you have to play drama and fake everything in order to get noticed. If I’m a recruiter or a higher up I rather someone approached me directly with their intention, rather than compliment me or say “I love your post” blabla no you probably don’t even read it.
