Took a while to get the technique down, but I was very pleased with it. The piping worked magic for hiding the raw edges.

Look for clean lines that are easy to make patterns for OR for a fabric that you can patch, that works, too!

I like this idea, as I always see cheap furniture at charity shops but didn't want to buy them as I didn't fancy sitting on used sofas or chairs and didn't want to take all the fabric off and re do it, now I can just buy fabric and put it over the old one. Which makes it better. You are awesome! Saved this so when I get my new place I can now buy used furniture and just redo the fabric on top! Yay. U saved me more money. U rock!

You are most welcome, Mark. Turquoise and pink are among my favorite colors. This chair needs a room with a big view! It would be great in a house with Mexican folk art, and textiles from around the world. Perhaps a "Day of the Dead" party? I don't know how long it took you in "real time" to redo this chair, but your precision in measuring and cutting your draft fabric had to make the job much more efficient. Whlle I think of it, I also enjoyed the way you took Matisse cut-out designs and re-invented them on festive pillows. What I really admire about Matisse, is how, despite enormous illness, he never stopped creating and innovating art. Watched a documentary from the MOMA about the Matisse cut out show, which showed the enormous amount of conservation and preservation of his cut outs. Did you get to that show? I may only be able to imagine being there from watching the documentary, but I know it had to be amazing. Many years ago, I was fortunate to see Matisse's work at the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia. I always like to see what can be done with simple materials in new and "sophisticated" ways. Awesome! Let me know how it goes! Take your time and make sure to make your patterns first so you don't ruin your upholstery fabric. It can get expensive!

If you sew the slipcover just add 1/2" around each pattern and you're good to start sewing once it's cut out.

So after making a beautiful bridesmaid gown for a friend I finally feel comfortable enough to tackle a much needed chair reupholstery. I am sewing a chair cover instead of using fabric glue like you did, but that’s only because I couldn’t find your fabric glue anywhere online or in stores. I think making a chair slip cover is also better since I can just take it off and wash it weekly.

You can do this! The more funky the pattern, the better! Also, find some fuzzy trim for where the pieces meet to cover any raw edges. That always works really well for me!

One more thing...test the glue on the fabric first to make sure that it doesn't seep through and change the color. Thin fabrics aren't the best for this kind of project.

Hey Karen! This chair was on my patio for 3 years in the weather and it held up perfectly! That glue is the absolute best! Just for kicks I tried ripping off the fabric to do it with another fabric and I could barely get it off of the chair...It ripped along the glue lines.

I love this chair!!!!! You and I both love Boho, and I have always wanted to own a chair like this. I hate sewing and I can't afford a new one, so thanks for showing how we can own one that we literally can design ourselves. Have you seen the extremely expensive new tiles they have out now? A couple months ago, I picked up one of my favorite magazines HDTV, and they were showing these bathroom tiles that have gorgeous designs on them kinda like that, and also beautiful Asian designs as well. The downside was they were the most expensive tiles I ever seen. Anyway, it just reminded me of that. Great job

Right up my alley Mark! This was so well done you make everything look effortless. Of course I'd be all thumbs! I have a ladies wing chair (maybe it's a wing chair?) not sure very frou frou with floral fabric and and ruffles everywhere. She's lost in my garage with stuff piled on top. I'd love to do this for her! Love the fabric I had no idea of the name, thank you for stating. It reminds me of some of the beautiful Roma Gypsy skirts I'd see in Eastern Europe!
