How to not break small taps

Feel by hand, how much is a tap binding up, turn back and forth by a 1/4 of a turn, clear out the swarf regularly. Those are my tips.

A gun tap mitigates that requirement due to how they push the chips. A spiral flute tap works better but are prohibitively expensive and are terribly easy to break by breathing too hard on them.

@@moosesmachinery It's amazing how many different types of taps there are in the first place, until you get into machining, you may have only heard of/seen what's for sale in the common hardware/DIY store.
