How to NOT buy a Motorola pt. 6 Motorola MOTOTRBO Ion and APX NEXT problems for a second hand buyer

A friend let me borrow his newly acquired Motorola MOTOTRBO Ion, and while it’s nifty, it really is challenging for a non-professional/institution user like me.
The biggest problem is programming through Radio Central (online through the cloud) and not being able to program through my computer using Motorolas CPS.
