How to not get seasick on a cruise

No one wants to get seasick on their cruise vacation and while it's unlikely that you will get seasick, here are some tried and true strategies for avoiding getting seasick and enjoying every minute of your cruise vacation!

I get motion sick so easy that I thought I could never cruise. I get car sick. I couldn't even ride a carousel at a amusement park. Couldn't swing on a swing set. Couldn't snorkel. But Bonine is my pill. Have taken 24 cruises. Can do so much now.

Do you take it before you get on the ship or do u take it when u start to feel queasy

@@lorif7606 Start taking it the day before or 2 before the cruise, to get it into your system. Then depending on how motion sick that you get. I easily get motion sick. Take one in the morning and at night.

I'm glad you found your sea-legs. I really struggled with my first cruise but except one time in the Bay of Biscay in a Force 10 I've not had a problem. I even seek out the rougher trips so I'm doing a Christmas transatlantic to New York this year with my 12 year old daughter on the QM2.

I took a boat ride on Lake Constance (der Bodensee) in Germany. I had never even heard of seasickness in my life but it hit me out of the blue all of a sudden. It scared the hell out of me. I WAS having so much fun till it hit then I spent the rest of the trip standing outside holding onto a rail praying to God.

I have only 1 cruise so far, 2nd cancelled due to covid, and on the second day, my stomach was churning. I want a second cruise, and they are fun, had an all nighter in a night club for kids, kinda a sleepover. It was totally fun.

I get sea sick VERY easily!! I use the sea bands, but I use Dramamine as a back up if I'm feeling sickness coming on.

I took meclazine and copper bracelets on our first cruise... didn't need them and never took anything along for "just in case" after that. There was one night when the sea was a little choppy and my ex-husband went to the movie theater to watch "Pirates of the Caribbean 2" and because of the disconnect between what was on-screen and what his body was doing, he got a little sick, but that was it. Incidentally, the night the ocean was so choppy they closed the outside decks for an evening, even then none of us got physically ill. It was fun watching people walk down the hallways, though!

I found that sitting on your deck eliminates the feeling of spinning but it feels like your going up and down I even fell asleep out there

I have been on many cruises. I never get seasick. However, hubby is going on his 1st cruise with me In February. He gets very seasick even rocking chairs and swings are a no no. I plan to be completely armed with patches, sea bands, bonine, ginger, green apples and anything else that I think will work. I'm hoping he will be okay so that he'll want to go on a cruise again in the future.

I get very motion sick. I use sea bands and I do have very small wrists so it helps if you press on the plastic part so it presses on the pressure point. I haven’t heard anyone else take this medicine, but I take nauzene. It helps any stomach pain and feelings of nausea within a few minutes. Plus it’s pretty much like taking tums, so it’s not very harmful to the body and you can’t really take too many. Drinking water helped me on my first cruise. I would feel sick in the mornings after waking up, but moving around and doing things seems to help. Hope that helps in some way. Good luck. My wife can attest to the blurry vision with scopalomine. Our first(and still only) cruise she brought some books to read. She put the patch on about 24hrs prior to embarkation. She had no other detrimental side effects but her nearfield vision was blurry and she couldn't make out printed text in a paperback novel. It kind of bummed her out that she had no way to pass any idle time.

I suffer from very severe motion sickness, HOWEVER, I have only ONCE been sick on a cruise!! It was with disney, and we were eating breakfast at the time. Without warning (If warning was given then I could of gone back to my room to have my tablets) After that happened I lost my lunch (Breakfast in this case) And got sent back to my room by crew thinking it was covid. I think it is Disneys falt that they did not give me any warning, because of that I left disney for good and changed to sail with royal Caribbean!!

I got VERY dizzy on my first cruise. It subsided a bit after the first two days. I took Dramamine but didn’t really help the first two days. The dizziness was bad at night. Hoping meclazinr will work this time and maybe arm bands

Royal Caribbean Blog yeah we love them. We went on a cruise to Alaska left from Seattle. That first day can be a killer! My sister and bro in law went with us and while we were fine, they were a few shades green! We gave them some of our patches and they were fine shortly afterwards! Even in very calm waters we always wear them. You just never know and with the cost of cruises, I don’t want it ruined by my husband, or I being sick.

Just got to get your sea legs 🦵 😂After many cruises, you learn to pretty much just move in the opposite way the ship does, and you don’t get as dizzy. Or, sit in the pool all day because that will be Level all the time

@@RoyalCaribbeanBlog funny story... my wife wants to go cruising over 10 years ago but I always avoided it because of my propensity for seasickness. I said I didn't want to spend $4,000 and be sea sick for a week so I told her I would only go on a cruise if we ever won one. In 2008 I happened to win a cruise when I worked as a General Motors service manager and we went on a 5-day cruise on the Disney magic. No seasickness with bonine so that's why we are ok to cruise!!

Hi i usually dont get sick on a big ship except when the sea is rough, then i take biodramina tablets and i be fine. My problems start when i go back home as i feel nauseated for about a week after. Is there anybody who experience this and can you give me any idea how to tackle this symptom.
