How To Not Look Older In Fashion & Appearance Women Over 50 & 60

When you look in the mirror do you say "I'm Looking Older" If so, you may be making these 10 mistakes. Now, these are just my opinion on style, and appearance, but i think they will help many women over 50 & 60 have a more youthful vibe. I put an accent on my longer skirts with putting a knot in the bottom corner. Or, a trendy belt. If the skirt is full enough, you can tie a knot in the middle at the bottom and make like two leg holes. Make the knot on the inside of the skirt and they become instant genie pants. As someone that's 62, I NEED videos by and for women my age! So, don't even think about retiring!!! 😉😃

Wigs have become a game changer for me. I still take care of my hair and wear it most of the time but for going out I can change my look from good to fabulous in about 3-5 minutes. I can change style, color, length on a whim and I always get compliments.

I've watched several of your videos now and this is the one that got me to subscribe. I have to say I was on board with 99% of your tips, (I felt like you were actually speaking to me when you started out with the frizzy hair and no makeup, lol. And, just my opinion, the cold shoulder look was awful even when it was "in"). Yes, everyone is not going to agree with every thing in every video. And I think comments with differing opinions are fine too. They might even help you see what us "oldies" are actually doing, and should be doing. But to say stop making videos? Ridiculous. You look amazing, and clearly have thoughtful styling tips. Next time someone says something like that, look at your 124K+ subscribers and say, "pfffft, bite me." Ok, that would be me. I'm sure you'd be more polite about it. :)

How ignore those nasty posts everybody has trolls. Those of us that really really appreciate you will be here all the time. I have a pant suit that I bought as a costume for a car show and I have kept it and I can wear a jacket over it I can wear a scarf with it I can wear a belt with it stretch your belt like there's so many things I can do with it I don't wear dresses and I love that so I always pack it as I could go out to dinner with it I also wear rings on every finger and I wear bracelets all the way up my arm handsome on my upper arm I can't tell you how many people want to take pictures of my hands and arms it's funny but they all have meaning to me and I like to layer all my necklaces I am Native American and I'm proud of it and I show it off. I love your makeup tips those are my favorite I use a hydro Matic face wash and makes my face feel so good and I have always put on sunscreen I don't care if it's the middle of winter and still wear it. Where I live people don't seem to understand that in the winter you need to wear lotion on your body. I'm sure we get a lot of daylight up here in the summer but we don't get a lot of sunshine however you get that glare so you must wear sunscreen. And as I've gotten older I too have changed my makeup style and I love how your makeup style works for me it's so easy easy easy easy easy easy to do. Now my sister's don't like putting lotion on their face lotion on their body I'm the oldest one in the family and my sisters are younger than I am look 10 years older than I am they don't take care of their skin just an FYI for everybody. As far as talking to your kids, minor in their thirties and forties when I got my leg surgery I have been working on the lot of exercising I finally got on a bike yesterday I started working on my mental health as well. I had to work on my religious trauma and I had to come to terms with a lot of things and I sat down on the phone and discussed these things with my children and I said look if you need to ask anything I don't care because I have dealt with the issues while I was in bed recovering from surgery I I was born into a cult Purity culture the whole bit isolation withholding food not a good place to be and I turned 18 I joined the Marines best thing I could have done I got out there met people everybody calls me I'm eccentric but that's how I dealt with my trauma and I was a single mom that she kept trying to take my kids away and I said no because I was a single mom and at that time being a single mom was not a good thing to be I fought hard so each one of my kids have a story and I have sat down and I have told them about my childhood about and that I hope that it didn't rub off on them that I broke the generational trauma that we were in because my great-grandmother my grandmother and my mom were in this cult and then I had a pole from my dad's side of the family about very Christian fundamentalist so basically I was caught between two fundamentalist groups from two different sides pulling on me so you can imagine that that's probably why I dress Gothic that's why I was a rebellious teenager but that's who I am today and explain this to my children and so they understand me a little bit better and I am good with that. So now that I am on 100 % disability I volunteer for a PTSD Group which I have PTSD from my time in the military I do have night terrors so I volunteer for PTSD group I also volunteer for a trauma group I also volunteer for many veterans groups and yes be very kind to each other cuz you don't know you don't know what somebody else has been through I'm sorry this is so long the ending of your video struck a chord and I just wanted to add the if anybody feels alone they are not alone❤ this is a great video as always I hope everybody here has a wonderful day

Heather is appreciate all of the tips and tricks that you give us. They don’t all work for me, but thats ok i am different from you ( and i think that is great!). At 66 i work hard to look good and not frumpy. I know i look much better with minimal makeup and doing my hair. Wearing clothes that fit and are my style helps too! My tip is i must watch the foundation lines. Not so much panty lines, but my bra lines. I have had to size up on some tops to prevent them from clinging, and T-shirt’s can be the worst. Keep going Heather. I will keep watching.

You have me incentive to cut 3 inches off my hair. I've only gone for a trim once since before covid 😂 So it's just a touch past my shoulder and looks thicker. But, guess what.... no one noticed 😊 I really like it!

Thank you! This is fun. I turned 70 last year and decided to go backwards. So, my birthday was last week and I’m 69 again. I warned my doctor so he wouldn’t worry that I was confused. . . I plan to make it back to (at least) 45. I’ve been wearing lab coats over the-shirts and jeans since 1998, so I’m excited to update.

I think it is sad that we have had to reach a certain age to come to the conclusion that we should be lifting each other up rather than tearing each other down... let's teach our daughters, our granddaughters, and in my case our great granddaughters how to be kind to others... let's show them how it is done without attaching ageism to it... let's teach them it just is how we do life! And let's teach our sons and grandsons, and great grandsons to respect not only the men they encounter as they go through life, but the women too! We have the power... as Helen Reddy sang... I just came across your you tube site today and loved your video! I subscribed right away. I am presently making most of those mistakes. I just turned 55 and definitely looking frumpy and need some updates. I have struggled with my weight gains and distribution trying to find flattering styles so often go with the oversized top with leggings. I loved the too you were wearing but would have loved to see the whole outfit. On Amazon it looked like it would be too short on me. I look forward to looking at other videos of yours. You are inspirational!

I workout every day. At 61 I’m in much better shape than 51. I’m so proud of my shape now. I went from a size 6 to a 2, in a year, walking 60 minutes a day on treadmill. I am having a blast dressing up. However…..I do wear my leggings a lot. When you’re going to the gym, it’s practical. I think I look fine in them. I’m also loving m new fuller, midi skirts. They accentuate my smaller waistline. So guess you’d not approve. 😂 Oh well. Can’t please everyone.

I am 74 and I make several of those mistakes daily. No makeup? That’s me , unless I am going out of the house. It’s amazing how long a tube of makeup lasts for me. In this economy, that’s a plus! Long hair in bun? Me again. After my bout with Covid in Dec 2020 and January 2021, my hair started to really fall out. It is still shedding more than I would like, but it’s stopped falling out by the handfuls. I use some hairpieces to help with styling, but I need every inch of length to wrap around my ponytail for a thicker look. Leggings? I have started to purge those, but mine were never THAT tight, so I use some of them at home for housework, (no, not for dust cloths) and I sleep in some of them. The fleece lined ones are really warm and comfortable! Shirts with uneven hems? This one I am not doing! I purged those about six months ago. Hair frizz? Don’t I wish! I actually roll my waist length hair into pin curls after shampooing at night , to give my own hair some more volume. This allows me to wear a ponytail , sometimes. After brushing , my ponytail looks much fuller, plus the top of my head appears to have more hair due to the frizz factor. I can also wear a baseball type hat with the frizzy ponytail pulled through the back opening of the cap. It’s a ok look for errands, grocery shopping etc. I have used YouTUBE videos to re-educate myself on current styling , so I have updated my wardrobe. I look ok, for 74. I have had to concentrate on my teeth because since Covid, I have lost five teeth in a row on the upper left. My own teeth have crumbled under my caps, or gotten a root cavity or something. It’s terrible. I have considered implants but it really takes about a year to have functional teeth from implants. For me it will mean three pretty hefty surgeries, so for now I have a partial, so I am not toothless! Another thing I concentrate on is smell. I use Amazing Grace stuff for bathing and for lotion. I use mouthwash and toothpaste for cleaning my mouth, very,often. Sometimes three brushes a day is just the beginning because I can’t stand stuff on my teeth. I use an ultrasonic toothbrush. I also have simple but fairly effective skin care. I try to walk several times a week and I lift my two year old great granddaughter a hundred times a day. There are still dozens of things I am letting fall through the cracks, but overall, I do the best I can, mostly!
