The ah-so has been my primary way of opening wine for almost 40 years, and I never knew it’s name! Keeping the cork intact to preserve the bottle for the next day has allowed me to enjoy more bottles from my beloved Finger Lakes!

I had this for years in my kitchen drawer. I never knew what it was used for, but I didn't want to throw it away. Now I know. BTW, I just learned that it is called an Ah-So. Thanks to Google image search I found your video. Thank you for it, Cheers.

Jesus! I've been using this thing for decades and never knew that it was called an Ah-So. Beware, it does take some practice and strength to shimmy it into the neck of the bottle without pushing the cork into the bottle. Thanks for the video
@rexstuff46553 жыл бұрын
It's called that because that's the sound everyone makes when they see it used for the first time: "Ah, so that's how it works!"

I pushed it in the bottle but I still got the contents inside.

Thank you! I was given one when I purchased an older wine. Time to enjoy the wine now but had no clue how to use the opener. Thanks to you…now I do!

I didn't have a corkscrew on hand, but I had an ah-so, and didn't want to accidentally shove the cork into the bottle. Your video was a great help, as the uncorking process went off without a hitch. Thanks!

As someone who has worked in the industry since the 80's...and recently owning a wine bar. Opening bottles of wine with an Ah-so has been my least favorite way of opening bottles of wine. Using a single-handle "double-hinged" lever style is best. Then there would be a number of others...finally the Ah-so if there's nothing else. But that said, it's a really well made video.

And with really old and expensive bottles, to not mess with the cork at all, a 'Port tong' is often used.

1:45 “...integrity for up to 15 years...” blimey, what kind of rubbish corks are being used by your wine makers? It can take >20 years for a port to be mature enough for drinking (e.g. the 1994 Grahams is just starting to show really well)...and their corks will easily last over 50 years. The Ah-So is however a great tip for older corks. Even better is the Durand, which combines an Ah-So with a fine cork screw and is astonishing with vintage corks.

Didnt spare any chances to show the Jordan-logo did you? Very American! However, very instructive video. Whenever I can afford/safely store a 20 year old wine I will probably use an ah-so!

I suck at using this tool. The cork always goes in the bottle lol. I need more practice
@JordanVineyardWinery5 жыл бұрын
Oh no! You always want to start with the long end of the ah-so and gently wiggle it in. If you try to force it, it will push the cork it. It takes practice!
