How to Open in PvP 2 - [5.4.8 Subtlety Rogue PvP] (No CoolDowns + More!)

This video especially - although, combined with your others - really helped me fill in the gaps of knowledge to understand my rogue. I practice the focus abilities and openers by soloing trash in heroic/challenge dungeons. I recently started trying out paralytic poison over mind-numbing and here are some points I feel warrant it almost being a necessity now that I've given it a true chance: - The spell-slowing effect from mind-numb is only 10% in pvp unless you shiv - How many times have you wished you could root a melee off you or a healer to catch a re-stealth or even just bandage. - Fan of knives now has a chance to stun your target while kiting and getting combo points. - The stun doesn't stack with your other stuns and somehow always seems to land me a long-ass stun (and if you're looking for it you can really mess people up and force cds) - The "root" is not a normal one in the sense that damage CAN'T break it. - Melee aren't really effected by mind-numbing. - You could open with a shiv instead of a stun on a mage, to make him blink but no stun DR. Just some thoughts and thanks for all the info.

Hey Sativ, returning rogue here from a 2 year break. Enjoying your vids, they're super informative. Anyway I was just wondering...I was studying the tooltips and doing some testing on a dummy (practicing burst rotations etc) It seems like rupture (with cheap shot glyph) does more damage over a shorter amount of time then hemo but Hemo (with hemo vein glyph) is a little easier and more flexible (little more room for mistakes and easier bleed uptime aka cost no combo points but generates them). Do you find this to be true? I was just looking at some top ranked rogues and almost all of them use glyph of hemo (not that I should use it for that reason).

I agree 100%. Hemo just makes you more flexable. While rupture can be a stronger opener if it returns it's 25 energy. Hemo just makes swaps easier.

I very curious what the macro is your using to use backstab in subterfuge. I understand its a stance macro some how but I'm confused how its set to ambush in regular stealth and once you hemo it switches to backstab while subterfuge is up. I know stealth and subterfuge is the same stance so your whole back is changing. Just wondering how you set that up since it doesn't look like you canceled subterfuge either. So, I got my rogue to 90 a few weeks ago and I'm about 3 pieces from full pride and I've already gotten pretty good but I have a question. Sanginary veins passive (idk how to spell it) also happens with garrote up, so why not just garrote on every opener instead of use hemp or rupt? Sure, if you can't get a reset and your vanishes are on cd then you sort of have to use rupt without the I glyph, but it would free up a glyph slot.

Because in some openers you want to save your Garrote for it's Silence aspect to lock out a healer. You want to open with a Stun as your first CC so they stay in place. The silence should be used after to lock him out.

So by backstabbing instead of ambushing while opening you lose over 25% damage per attack as well as only generating one combo point instead of two. Which is really hilarious considering the big damage from sub rogues comes from finishers. For the newer rogues out there his initial opener in this video starts with cs>hemo>bs>bs>Evis. Which is a net of 175 energy. While a more effective opener in this scenario is cs>hemo>Ambush>Evis. Which is a net of 165 energy. I think you will find the latter to not only be faster with a saved global cooldown, but also saves energy and allows you to sustain your dps out of subterfuge. While also giving more burst damage through the best combo point generator we have as rogues. enjoy

I've done a lot of testing. At your crt chance with procs up your will ALWAYS have 5 combo points after 2 backstabs, you will also deal more damage. as Ambushes DPE (Damager Per Energy) is lower than Backstab with FW up and procs / no Shadow Dance.

That's a hard skill to talk about. It's mostly dependent on getting your enemy into a situation where they can't use defensive CDs to reduce your damage Then blasting into them off a simple restealth- OR dancing. You can use the No Dance opener with blades just as effectively as with it. ^^

Duels are insanely hard. Monks and Warriors have some of the strongest self healing (once at 35%) Monks are probably the best 1v1 class in wow.

***** The best bet my friend, Is to some how, some way. Get their Trinket- And Nimble Brew (breaks stuns) Then reset (or just run!) and wait till he's off stun DR- Find a way into stealth (10% damage) and open him as hard as you can with Blades, Dance, Everything. You want to kill him in a CS/Kidney Shot.

Hmm allright, i have another question, i heard cheapshot opening has become useless because of diminishing returns. You can better use a full kidney shot and use you 3 sec free subterfuge damage to get 5 combos. Whats your opinion in this?
