If you had a long item in the back could you drive with the rear doors open like you can a hatch?

My 16 Clubman rear split doors accidentally open when I have the key fob in my pocket. It can even open while driving, if I move and am wearing tighter pants. I have walked out to my garage and have found one or both doors open. Guess I accidentally pushed the button while I'm in the house. I have purchased a soft silicon fob over to help prevent this, but it only slightly helps. Mini says this function can't be disabled. Any suggestions out there? Wish they could program the fob to take 2 or 3 pushes to activate this function.

Agreed that the door can open accidentally from a pocket press. Very embarrassing. My neighbours have told me my rear door is open at home, and I have not known about it. I think a double click should be a good solution, but MINI are not interested.

Does this have the boot thing with the comfort access or optional instead ? I have comfort access but no boot thing

I love my F56 Mini Cooper S...I am considering a move to the United Kingdom and buying this Clubman, however the visibility through the rear doors is just paltry. Plus you get no protection from the elements as you would from an upward-opening rear hatch. Sure it's classic but this rear door design is just a zero. I'd consider the Countryman but I don't want or need the increased ride height and it's assembled in the Netherlands on the same BMW Z1 platform as this car; the Clubman is from Oxford i.e. British-made which is what I'd want living and driving in Britain.

I finally got the new latch in the mail and replaced it. Now it opens and closes, but the right doesn’t open on its own like the other one 🙃 now i have to go through electrical hell to figure that one out

i reckon the latches should be at the roof and floor so both doors can open at the same time.

you would still have a problem with the sealing of the cargo area, and this is easier to get through the strength tests
