how can i open that lock without an appropriate key. i had lost my originl keys and got new ones made from a locksmith, but these keys dont have that hole on the side. can you suggest something ?

Other than destroying it, you can't. You have to replace it.

And no one has a good aftermarket option for it. You have to get OEM, and it ain't cheap.

My concern is that fact that it's plastic, and will wear over time...At that point how do you bypass this cover?

You drill a hole through it and hack it up.

You will need to replace the entire key switch assembly and keys. I have a video about it.
