Awesome video. I used it to help me replace the thermal pads and disk drive in mine. Also swapped out the shell.

I used Protronix Series 7 Thermal paste for my Refurbishment. My console runs slightly more cooler than it did Originally. Thanks for the Tutorial

I make a mod of the headsink in 10min. and used MX-4. You can also use a 1,5mm Copper sheet. Much better then a pad!
@uFixTek Жыл бұрын
sure you can use the thicker copper sheet, and place a good thick thermal paste on both sides, it will be fine. good job my friend. cheers🍻

Good video and new follower! :) But what do you recommend the most, using thermal paste or a thermal pad? My Wii hasn't had a maintenance for more than 14 years and I would like to change the thermal pad, but many recommend applying thermal paste since it is better to transfer heat, but at the same time others recommend a thermal pad because there must be some space between the heatsink and the processor. But what do you recommend? I wait your answer!

Thank you for the feedback! if you wish to support the channel you can LIKE or SUB or both :P regarding your question: Oh boi please do NOT put thermal paste, because there is a big gap from cpu to heat-sink, the paste wont be able to do its job, place a very good thermal pad 3mm and you will be good for another 70years, and because of the gap if you put thermal paste it will drool over the board when you place the console on its side. go with this: amzn.to/2YDNez6

@@uFixTek Thanks for answering! :D And thank you very much for the recommendation, I'll follow your advice to be able to keep the console working. I just have a problem, I'm from México and the product will arrive more expensive than normal, but I guess it will be worth it. Thank you again and have a nice day! :)

You mentioned 0,4 or 0,5 millimeters thermal pads, but someone else mentioned 1,5 millimeters. What do you suggest? Also... Would you say such replacement is useless in 2021? If the thermal pads are still moist, I guess there's no use trying to replace them. What do you think?
@uFixTek3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the feedback! if you wish to support the channel you can LIKE or SUB or both :P regarding your question: if the pads are flexin and moist then no need to replace them.i would recommend .5mm because the thicker the slower the heat transfer would be, but you could place a 1.5 and it will squish it down when placing the heatsink. but really just clean and use the same pad, or add a drop of artic mx4 as this paste its more soft and it will make a better bond and fill the micro holes in the pads and it will seal better. add a drop of the paste on the pad.
@Alvarocious2 жыл бұрын
@@uFixTek I don't think the heatsink is even touching the pad if it's .5
@Alvarocious2 жыл бұрын
@@uFixTek Yeah Do NOT use .5mm. Way too small, zero contact with the heatsink.
@dw9932 Жыл бұрын
@@uFixTek actually I used 1.5 thermal pads they actually fit well without any tension I have artic tp3 thermal pads in my system it stays really cool before my system would get really warm to find out they weren't even placed right and they were moist but were crumbling anyway I would suggest getting thermal pads from artic 1.5 and replacing them if going to refurbish your system yourself
@dw9932 Жыл бұрын
@@Alvarocious ya it wouldn't make contact will suggest getting 1.5 it makes contact and keeps the system cool

I bought a used black Wii a couple of days ago. I never use the disc drive since I got homebrew setup for GameCube games. I've opened it up and cleaned it out. Only thing I haven't done is change the thermal pads. I know with the system being so old I should probably them. Should I? If so can I have a link to the exact pads and the exact size I need? And what other places would I have to apply the pads? I know 2 under the heatsink, 1 on the bottom of the gray case and 1 on the bottom of the wifi board? My Wii doesn't normally start getting warm near the fan until about 20 -30 mins. What should I do? I want it to last a long time!! Sorry for the long message

Thank you for the feedback! if you wish to support the channel you can LIKE or SUB or both :P regarding your question: i would suguest to place a GOOD brand Thermal pad and 1mm because when you screw it down it will pull and squish nicely the pads and you will get a good thermal conductivity, we do it and works like a charm. and its normal to heat up thats what the heatsink is there for to pull the heat and it will blow out the hot air. amzn.to/3rhlFrO just replace the two pads under heatsink.
