Great video , great location, your video was very informative, being a new operator it was very helpful, any good tips on stick control, digging,ie, depth not going to deep was a resident of Hawaii , Kailua Oahu family still there

G'day mate, greetings from Australia. I found this video because I just bought my first excavator, 2019 8.5 tonne Takeuchi. Until now, I had never even sat in an excavotor, let alone operated one before (I am 60 years old). Really appreciated your video. I am in a high rainfall, very hilly, sub tropical on the east coast of Australia, where I a farm, I am finding it takes a little bit of getting used to operating it and I really appreciated your video. I am going to search your back catalogue for some other excavator related videos. I just wanted to say thank, you have a really natural nice form of delivery that makes it easy to listened to.

Hey... Aloha from Australia mate! Pretty good vid, with some handy to know tips. What would be realy grate? a video demonstrating how to maneuver control seamlessly, to dig. Such as maintaining an equal and level depth and how to pull back and curl the bucket. cheers mate..!

Youre thinking cat control vs john deere and yes you can run john deere controls on a cat machine, it just swaps the controls for your stick and boom

We have a 308 with that same sliding door...don’t know what cat was thinking with that. Now we have a brand new 309cr cat I guess they listened to complaints

I want to clear the site, dig the footings, and do the associated drainage works myself. Everyone keeps telling me I am nuts and that using an excavator to do this, having never used one before is nuts. Would you agree, or do you think that if I hire one and spend a day getting used to it, I should be good to do the excavation works myself?

It all depends how well you are able to learn new things, if you are handy and a do it yourselfer than I would say go for it, after a day or so you should be ok to do what you need to but just take it slow and learn the controls. I taught myself awhile back on a small mini ex and was pretty good after a couple days. Just respect the machine and understand that it can damage anything you hit very easily, they are very heavy and unforgiving, good luck and hope it all works out for you.

I would drive with the foot control cause when going over a trench u have to use the joystick and drive at the same time

ordered it off of amazon, yes that window has been bugging me, I've been waiting to install my Lexan Shield for my Fecon mulcher then ill fix the window. It cracked when my Ripper tooth broke and a small chunk flew at the window as I was ripping some hard rock.

excavator tracks should have a estimate 2 inches of sag from the top roller to the sprocket

that pour machine been beat to hell already, what a shame,,, great operators, if you can even call them one, a hammer beats the living shit out of a small machine, even big ones, thats why you never see a hammer on a new machine, unless its a huge company.. as a welder on heavy equipment all my life i have seen more then i care to have

Hawaii is one of the toughest environments for machines, only Cats will survive for a decent lifespan, the rock here is extremely hard on equipment, nothing will last long here.

@@WesD808 then you have not seen or worked here in north western Ont. Canada, they dont call it the ass hole of the world for nothing,,, your rock is soft, 50 below zero in solid rock, building hyw you dont even make 50 yards a day, huge blasted rock
