Awesome. Thanks for this. I've never done any contesting so this is very helpful and gives real world insight. Question: at 36:30 you barely listened between each CQ call. In a contest do people respond so quickly that you only need to listen for an instant, or am I not understanding what your were doing there?

James, nobody hangs around..! And folks soon learn to chip in.. Lots of reasons but if they miss the first time, folks are only calling for say 3 seconds then they'll jump in again. Also, if you wait, you will often hear people saying "QRZ"? because they want to know if you are a duplicate or not.. And also if you hang arouond, you will lose the frequency!

Hey 20 watts just fine I've worked loads on 10 watts Asiatic Russia on 10 watts 59 check me qrz page I have plenty of contacts on there so don't give up 👍
