I'm used to driving 25 year old "beaters". But, I just bought a new (used 2007 Odyssey) car and while waiting for them to do a final inspection and repair a scratch they gave me a 2022 Mitsu Outlander as a loaner - and I'm scared to death. I hate the thought of driving a car that cost almost as much as my house. That means the most minor accident will cost major dollars and the roads are filled with distracted, inattentive drivers. That's why I quit riding my motorcycle. I just know that they will say my car is ready in two days when the Big Blizzard hits my area and I'll have to drive in a foot of snow and ice. I just saw in another video about the traction selector knob. That'll come in handy. I wondered where the Emergency Brake release knob was. Everything is automated - even the steering wheel isn't connected to the wheels on some cars. That's beyond my comprehension.

Anyone have trouble getting gear shift into neutral, at a car wash. I don't t have time to get to neutral before the track pushes the car, before I can get into neutral.
@mcclintonauto3 жыл бұрын
Sandy, it can be a little tricky. We've found that the less force you use to shift up from drive, the better. Definitely practice when you have time.

Thanks for the video. Too bad Mitsubishi needlessly complicated something that used to be familiar and second nature to anyone who ever drove a car. Epic design fail! You know you’ve failed, Mitsubishi, when customers have to go find videos and instructions to do what used to be a no brainer! How did this even pass any testing? I rented this car on vacation and the last thing I needed driving in unfamiliar city is to also stall around fidgeting with the gear shift that has zero logic to it. Insane! Anyone who needlessly gets into an accident over this design flaw should sue mitsubishi. Then they will be damn sure to test their product before releasing a disaster.

Mindy, we understand your concerns. Most people get comfortable with the gear selector after a day or two of driving. If you feel unsafe though, we recommend going back to the rental agency and asking for an exchange. They should be able to accommodate you. Safe travels.

Anytime I have to go to KZbin to figure out how to shift a vehicle into reverse is when I’m off to another dealership. Rented one and am unimpressed

This is the way most manufacturers are going. It's not hard to figure out.

Do you need to push side button every time if you change between the N, R and D ?

@saxarra432 жыл бұрын
You dont need to push the button for drive, just pull it backwards.
@theopeningset2 жыл бұрын

Can you change drive modes while driving?
@hmx619 Жыл бұрын
I guess the theory is outside of hauling the car or actually pushing it there really is no need to go to neutral…and when you take it to those drive car washes so that’s why the N is kinda flimsy to get into

When in drive mode and needed to go in the park mode do you need to push up to neural then reverse then push button for park? Or can you be in drive mode and just push the park button? Of course all functions are done while applying the brakes.
@mcclintonauto9 ай бұрын
Great question. You can push the Park button whenever the vehicle is stationary and the brakes are engaged. You don’t have to go back through the gears. Also, if the vehicle is stationary, and you open the door, the vehicle will automatically shift to park.

@marktrepka48053 жыл бұрын
So.. you pull back to go forward and you push forward to reverse. 🙄 duh
@unchained3983 жыл бұрын
That’s how it is for regular auto shifters, drive is at the bottom and reverse is right above neutral
