One good thing about deceasing the monitor resolution inside the games settings is better fps, plus it might seem more immersive, because the objects detail look bigger/closer. Like with a flight simulator, I dont know if this applies with VR in anyway, helps with curved monitor at least.

5:12 Image sharpening ONLY works if you are running the game below your monitors Native resolution. For example, if you are running Batman Arkham Origin at 720p on a 1080p monitor then Image sharpening will kick in and sharpen up the lower rez to look like a higher rez. It's actually pretty fun to mess with. You should try it if some of your games aren't hitting 60 fps at 1080p or whatever your monitors native resolution is.

Does it also apply if u use ingame upscaling modes like fsr ? Having a hard time understanding this, my game is set at 1440p but the upscaling forces a lower base resolution right ? I know fsr does the image sharpening itself so should i use that ?

How do you go about changing the settings for specific applications like Photoshop and Da Vinci Resolve? Just got a new laptop and can't figure out how to get it to use the 8GB dedicated video card (AMD Radeon RX 6600M) instead of the integrated graphics. Photoshop also crashes (e.g. resizing a 900x900 pixel image by 10%) when the 'Use Graphics Processor' option is ticked in Photoshop. My nine year old laptop is less hassle... although much slower, obviously.

Chill or Frame rate target is great (if the game doesn't have FPS limiter0 for less demanding games where you are pushing well above your monitor refresh rate to save some power and reduce noise from your GPU cooler. Also I would recommend optimizing fan curve - for example with my MSI RX 5700 Gaming X (with XT BIOS) anything above 40-45% fan speed makes no difference, it is just louder.

Curves are goofy. Set your GPU to whatever noise level you're comfortable with tolerating and leave it there. If it overheats past that, then it ain't the fan that's a problem.

Do these global settings override SSAA and other setting you tinker with IN-GAME. Like if you have anisotropic filtering off on the adrenalin software but in game video settings you have it on like 2X or whatever, what happens?

Forcing options through the driver control panel doesn't work since forever. I can't seem to force any graphical options through the Radeon Software. I tried V-Sync, Morphological AA, MSAA, SSAA and AF but none of them seem to do anything.

RX 570 is the way to go. It’s in the same price range as the 550 but it’s just new enough that it still performs well with a lot of new titles. That’s the gpu I daily drive

Hi, do you have any advice for playing in 1440p (3440x1440) with a GPU with 4gb vram (details at a minimum)? it's a Mi8/Radeon R9 nano instict. I know very well that it could not be, but I do it anyway, I ask in case anyone knows about some software settings, BIOS or on the AMD panel or some setting / technology developed within the game settings (in addition to low details) to make the card go better in 1440, make the vram work better or try not to saturate.

msi afterburner, core clock and memory clock to +40, save, then go to setting and do boot with windows, then change the fan curve to be a bit more "aggressive", minimize it then get some kind of unnecessary program stopper, that's what i would do. but 1440p with a mi8 is not going to work, just play at a custom resolution scaling or go to 1080p

Bro I don't know what games you play but If you play a little more older games then I think you will be fine. Ihave RX580 4gb and play Dota 1, Dota 2, CS:GO, Witcher 3 etc, all on 1440p with 1440p monitor and they are smooth, everything runs fine at that resolution... Of course if you play the latest AAA games, your fps will be something like 30-50, depending on the game.

what brand is your RX580?i just swapped my powercolor 580 for Sapphire Nitro+ and man this is a big upgrade...Nitro+ has a lot more bigger and nicer cooling system and because of that it runs like different GPU...i just played RDR2 few hours and the GPU never got close to 60 degrees C....48-54C is min to max temp and my settings are almost at maximum possible...just 4-5 settings are on HIGH everything else is on ULTRA or maximum...i cant believe how much better is that thing my frinds...my powercolor got toasted by my clumsy hands and this stupid termal paste with GOLD in it...i had changed the paste 2 times and on this 3rd i blowed it because of tiny amount spilled and not corectly cleared from around the chip...it was clear for my naked eyes but after it showed black screen i opened it and i looked with my phone camera to see if there is bits of termal paste around the chip...there was so little but still enougfh to kill my GPU....i hope this story will help someone...NEVER BUY ''AG GOLD'' termal paste for GPUs...for CPU is ok......SAPPHIRE NITRO+ 8GB is the best RX (there is a blue version which is even better)

Be carful doing this I did what he said and idk why but my game was bugging and nothing would fix it new issue after doing this don't know if this was the cause but then the monitor wouldn't display anything on any of the ports after restarting my pc so I reset the settings by just clicking on the gaming preset one and it fixed everything weird asf annoyed me a bit but just letting anyone know just incase of this happening to anyone else
