I'll never switch to Windows 10. I've been using Windows 7 for a decade now and have my perfect system. I've spent years and hundreds of hours compiling a software suite that is fully compatible and works for me. I used Windows 10 natively as my daily driver for a couple of months and I just couldn't get over some of the issues it presented to me, not to mention hardware incompatibilities. Windows 10 is basically beta software, it's never finished. Besides, if you've got to strip the whole thing out to make it 'usable' then you're fundamentally breaking it for little to no gains. At that point you may as well just be using a different OS. It's now coming up to a year since Microsoft stopped officially supporting Windows 7 and I can honestly say I haven't had a single issue. Like many things in 2020, this is all just scaremongering.

Wow, this guy is me! I've been just like him up until recently. I've used NTlite + Winreducer for several years now and a variety of other tools, tweaks, scripts etc. Various configurations, different PC's with different goals. Ultimately I have found that I always end up reinstalling at some point on every machine because something, somewhere down the line will not work. Sometimes it's a big Windows Update, other times it's some type of software or aspect of the software that prevents it from working....and it's always something that you really want. Maybe you decide to by a VR unit and the software suddenly says "screw you" Some software can be finicky and require something tiny, something you don't even know what it wants...but it's not there and you won't know what that something is. Other times, it's something little that eventually gets on your nerves...like one time my custom ISO caused all thumbnails to cease functioning and I could not get it back on no matter what I tried. I eventually got tired of it cause I realized that I like my thumbnails. ...the little things can break your brain. Or maybe one day you'll want to type "netplwiz.exe" in command and it's jacked up or not even there..wtf? Who knows but apps like NTlite can be finicky as well and you have to be SUPER CAREFUL when making those tweaks. Too much can be a bad thing My laptop is a multifunctional beast. So it's even harder to get away with custom Iso's for very long. The tweaking apps (ultimate windows tweaker or custom scrips) really don't offer any noticeable improvements. I mean you can make it feel snappier by reducing menu delays but other stuff like the remove delays of loading startup apps or other various "tweaks" doesn't really do jack in the long run. It'll always slow down with use over time or at least "seems" to in your head. You can minimize the OS footprint a little but in the long run Windows always pushes to eat more so it's a constant battle for no real reason unless you have a small SSD. With a custom ISO, my best achievement was an installed footprint of under 8 GB's with all drivers installed...like wow right?. I forget what it was exactly but after about a month or two, I ended up reformatting and went with a regular install...that was about my last straw. I have found the best luck when doing this to a gaming rig that's literally just for games...but those framerates won't improve..I've tried. Oh damn how I've tried. Nope, you need hardware for that. You can reduce some lag here n there though depending on how old or cheap your rig is. I've been a hardcore tweaker since Windows 98 and these days I don't worry much about it. Just my 2 cents because some of you will literally spend many hours trying to get your setup just right and if you're OCD like me, it'll either never be perfect or won't be for long. ..but I know, you won't listen will you? And if you don't it's because you are yesterday me. I was always that guy who never listened to people like today me.

We had a tech who removed the store off all our images. Now we need to reimage nearlyt 1000 pcs at work :-/!? We have customer apps on the Windows Store and PowerBI which we can't use now. Windows Store has Xbox Game Pass which is a plus if you own a console and apps such as VLC are now there. It is not crappy like it once was and is the wave of the future as Windows 7 dies off. Intel RST also is Windows Store only which is a must on this workstation ...

Backup and reinstall. Should be about every couple years. Or just do Custom ISO and Final Optimizations part if that is a bit too much. Even still I am usually reinstalling every year. Windows just turns into a bloated mess no matter what you do after a few years.
@photonboy9994 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisTitusTech ?? But do you have any great DATA to back that up? I've used Windows since 1996 and it got pretty bloated years ago. Maybe it's bloated now, but before I got my new CPU (R9-3900x) I only had an older i7-3770K (4C/8T) CPU. My Windows installation was at least three years old yet my BENCHMARK NUMBERS did not change in that entire time. I ran game, CPU and storage benchmarks and they seemed not to change nor did my general experience seem sluggish compared to years past. I'm NOT saying you're wrong, but again can you LINK to something that shows a benefit to all of this optimizing? And does it even matter for somebody with a good PC in 2021? (R9-3900x + 32GB DDR4 + GTX1080 + fast SSD)... *CPU USAGE right now is only about two percent. So it's not like background tasks really matter that much for CPU cycles. My 32GB of DDR4 memory isn't eaten up ever, but when I only had 16GB back in 2018 I didn't seem to have any issues with running out... so if my CPU usage and DDR4 memory usage is a non-issue then what am I optimizing? (I realize I currently have 8GB of my 32GB eaten up even with Google Chrome not running and that I could get that number way down, however even if I NEEDED IT for video editing wouldn't Windows simply free up the memory? I have an old laptop that still runs Windows 10 (was Vista. ugh.) and it only has 2GB of system memory and Windows boots up using 1GB of system memory so obviously it can free up a lot of space if needed... so... honestly, for people like me who are probably examples of the Dunning-Kruger Effect what's the point of optimizing?)

I actually like WIndows 10, but all the bloat is a pain in the rear. I try my best to find my balance between security and ease-of-use Don't lynch me, but i still use windows store apps, mostly for games, but also for things like Unigram and streaming apps (HDR isn't supported in the web browser) UWP apps are usually more power efficient than regular apps, because they can suspend without having to be in the tray, only taking up a few MB in the task manager, and there's no tray icon. also there is this app that you can install called Smart Taskbar that acts similarly to how "smart hide" works in linux distros, the taskbar is hidden when you maximise a program and shown when nothing is maximised. I also reccomend this program called ParkControl and CPUBalance because these can both save your computer's resources, and get more control in the power options. Highly reccomended on the laptop, I've gotten a good bit of my laptop's power back just keeping these on.

I wonder if all this would give you a measurable increase in either benchmark scores or even in-game framerates. That's not really the point of all this, but it would be interesting to see.

MSMG Toolkit's link is dead. It's still available on the Wayback Machine though.

Why do we need to download Linux? - What (Else) have I missed with this need for the Linux download.. ( I missed most of it on the first few watches , its too quickly jumping around , and I don’t get half of it,… yet) . This video is a bit above my head in a few places. Some stuff I recognise from earlier videos. This could be a video for me for later, just now it’s too convoluted for my level of understanding of some of the things being talked about

The speed of the " 5 minute process" and the entire speed of everything also depends on the computer speed. I'm going to try this out with my i7 pc.

Have you posted a video showing the same game or a few games running on the machine with Windows 10 full image unmodified image then de-bloated (with Power Shell Toolbox) vs. the version of windows you got after all the work in this video to give us some metrics on improved FPS or rendering times or another quantifiable metric?

Is it possible to use your windows_lite_2004 AME script for the latest and greatest Windows 20H2? I've tried, but when I'm doing the linux-step an error appears: fzf file not found and then it exits. Thanks for your work and a happy new year!

One thing I dont understnad, is why they don't include one of their custom windows 10 images for download.

I could get arrested and fined for redistribution of Windows Images. There was a guy that spent two years in prison for this, and all he was doing was reproducing restore dvds that came with refurbished computers.

@@ChrisTitusTech Damn!!!! thats rough. Thanks for the guide though. I will be switching to windows soon, because my mom doesn't want to sell her kidneys to get me a MacBook. I was watching this as research. This looks like way too much work. I think Ill just use Linux instead. Thanks again!!
