Great info . I pretty much always try to keep the same stuff ready to go no matter where I go salt water fishing. You usually only end out swapping rods reels and lines depending on species. I like the waterproof stuff sacks. Thanks for sharing

Packing back-up rods, reels and is essential on a trip like this. You never know what will break due to accidents or other mishaps. For example; On my second trip to the Seychelles in 2007 my buddy's gear went missing on the inbound flight. It ended up in Dubai and we had a 10 day charter to catch before they could get his stuff back to Mahe in time. Between the other three of us, we managed to outfit him with enough gear to make sure his trip didn't turn into the disaster that it could have been ... in fact he probably caught the most fish and some of the biggest fish out of all of us, but I wouldn't recommend loosing your gear as a fish-catching strategy.

You need to mention that these weight restrictions are only for the flights from Mahe to the outer islands. The International flights have a much greater baggage weight allowance. Then its just a case of storing the stuff you don't take to the mother ship at your arrival / departure hotel on the mainland. Most hotels will accomodate you if you ask, as I do when I visit these amazing islands (I've already notched off Mahe, Praslin, La Digue and Alphonse).

Hey Steve, Good point! Ian does mention this tip at the end of the clip -- a real game saver for being able to store some extra items during your time on an outer island.

@@Yellowdogflyfishingadventures Yeah, I was a bit too quick commenting before the end of the video. Apologies to Ian.

What bag are you using for your checked bag? Wonder what size fits the rod tubes. Thanks.
