I have the same cpu I think, Ryzen 7 7700, what were your before and after results? My Cinebench went from 950 pts to 1000 pts, no where near 20% improvement. Interestingly, I loaded the one and only game I play, MS Flight Simulator 2020 and my frame rates were half of what they normally are, it was like Frame Generation on my 4070 got disabled or something. I rebooted the PC to clear out the Ryzen Master changes and everything was fine again. Really hoping this technique can actually make a noticeable difference on my CPU but not sure why it didn't, and in fact made it worse for MSFS 2020

I'm running my 7900X at 65W TDP settings in an attempt to match the 7900 stock settings. I've got one day left in my return window, so should I swap the 7900X for the 7900?
@CrazyTechLab Жыл бұрын
What was your reasoning for using 65W with the 7900X? If it's important to you for cooling/power/thermal reasons for your particular system then it could well be a better option. Don't forget, though, that the 7900X has higher peak boosting so it still might be faster.
@michaelbrown7415 Жыл бұрын
@@CrazyTechLab I bought the 7900X just a few days before the 7900 came out and was totally unaware that a non-X series would be released. If I were buying a CPU today, I'd certainly go with the 7900 because I don't want to use more than 90W to run my cpu and want to keep temps in the 40 to 50 degree range. For what I'm using my machine for (mostly work), I'm good with performance level of the 7900 stock. I've also realized that having a quiet machine is of the upmost importance to me. From what I've seen on the 7900, its Cinebench score is right around 24500. Running my 7900x on just ECO mode in Ryzen Master, I got a Cinebench score of 22928. Running 65W TDP + Curve Optimizer at negative 30 in bios, I got a Cinebench score of 24647.

I had the same issue. The issue I had is when he mentions to go to BIOS and make the adjustments there (which were not really needed). I ended up having to take the CMOS battery away to reset the BIOS and eventually boot. Managed to then use the auto overclocking on Ryzen Master and it is working well

Stupid YT I was just typing a message in chat and it disappeared! So when you restart the second time, the settings are erased?
@CrazyTechLab Жыл бұрын
Ha ha! No worries. Yes - when you click apply having enabled Automatic Overclocking, the PC will reboot and apply the settings. But the next time you reboot, it goes back to stock settings. To get it to stick between reboots you need to apply the settings in EFI but it's really simple and you're not messing with voltages.

Trieed this with AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D and one the Ryzen Master reboot after setting Boost Override CPU = 200 it just fails to launch, even to BIOS. In the end had to reset the CMOS in order to get into BIOS and boot into Windows 11. Tried second time and same result so just uninstalled Ryzen Master and all was fine. Possibly it has to do with the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D auto boosting without any tweaking as it was hitting 4.7GHz+ (states up to 5.0GHz stock boost) during the first tests?
@DeKosta6 ай бұрын
There is no need to even touch Boost Override on the 7800x3d since its hard locked at a boost of 5050MHz so just enable PBO and leave that on auto and you can focus more on Curve Optimizer if you want to fine tune more.
@moonraker26346 ай бұрын
I understand that now, this is mainly directed to others who may follow the 'one click' instruction set out in the video, which results in not being able to boot at all as explained. Hopefully so others can see this if aiming to try it with this CPU (video title is directed at 'Ryzen 7000 CPUs' after all) and avoid the same situation.@@DeKosta

Great video but I'm getting interesting results with my Ryzen 7 7700 (8C @ 3.8HGz) in my pre-built Lenovo Legion 5: - Stock settings - Peak speed was 5,050 MHz - 80 degrees C - Cinebench 2024 Score - 950 pts - Auto Overclocking - Boost Override CPU @ 200 - Peak speed was 5,050 MHz - 80 degrees C - Cinebench 2024 Score - 1000 pts Why did my CPU run at 5GHz on default settings when it's rated at 3.8GHz? I have Lenovo Vantage installed which did not have the Overclocking mode enabled, but I did tinker with MSI Afterburner about a month ago and went through it's automatic overclocking feature. I seem to recall my go-to game, MSFS 2020 crashing and I reset everything in MSI Afterburner, but maybe not? Thanks
@CrazyTechLab8 ай бұрын
3.8GHz is the base frequency which is kinda meaningless. The number you want to look at is the max boost frequency which is 5.3GHz. That's the maximum frequency the CPU will boost to across one or two cores. If you load all cores at once in Cinebench, it will typically hit a few hundred MHz less than that so your 5GHz figure sounds about right. It's not overclocking, it's actually just what that CPU does at stock speed.

That CPU should be running at 5.4ghz normally anyways with AMD Core Boost Turned on in Bios. (Is you AMD CBS Even turned on in bios, that would explain why only seeing 4.7ghz in CB23) Also is your power profile on Power Saver judging by the way its lowering clock speeds, Should be on High Performance Power Plan when Benchmarking. Without "overclocking" using only the AMD CBS, My 7600x Runs CB23 @ 5.25-5.45ghz all cores & Sits in 5,45ghz on Desktop with High performance Power Plan. 600mhz "OVERCLOCK" Would mean you are getting 6.0Ghz + Which is not possible on AM5 chips, So technically its a bit misleading video as you are not really overclocking anything by 600mhz+ You are just manually doing what AMD CBS does automatically with correct power profile.

So the most important part... The per core voltage Optimizer??? Where has that gone? Without it getting per core values is a hassle and it won't boost as long or as much without losing stability.

Whole point of the video is to overclock using a few settings as possible. Anything more than that completely defeats the object of the video. Yes there are more efficient ways but for a quick and easy way to see a performance increase this is it. There are countless guides for other more complicated routes.That’s not what this guide is about. It’s about getting complete newcomers into overclocking to try a simple safe overclock and hopefully continue to want to improve it and become deeper enthusiasts. Same goes for my 13600K and Ryzen 2600 OC videos - hundreds of comments thanking me for a guide that’s simple enough for them to follow. There’s a ton of guides out there on various optimisers already. I get your point but that’s not what the videos aim was.
