Very well done. Eb is a wonderful addition to the channel. Excellent tech and shows he’s just as OCD on the mechanical side of things.
@IntegraDIY3 жыл бұрын
He doesn’t have the mental health disorder OCD, OCD is a very serious mental issue. If you work on engines, it’s just natural to make sure everything is put back correctly, making sure the coolant system and other systems are sealed, no cross threading, proper torque specs etc etc. People with OCD struggle so much during their daily life, it has nothing to do with someone doing an excellent job working on an engine.

Great video Matt and Eb! Eb offered to donate the old parts. I would appreciate the old parts. I would normally install new parts, but my E36 is 50%/50% in needing a head gasket/head resurfacing so I would greatly appreciate the old parts in order to diagnose my overheating issue. Thank you guys!

I recommend everyone with the m50,m52 ,m54, s50,s52,s54 engine to do this upgrade. Worth everything penny. ive seen many engines go out because of the stock coolant system . Now days to find a really good head with no cracks is very difficult and is very expensive… I will be doing this to my E39 soon. Best of lucks everyone!!

Assuming you're talking about converting to an E fan, clutch fans are superior in every single way. If you keep your motor mounts in check you will be fine. E fans will never be able to pull the same CFM that a clutch fan puts off.

Didn’t see him test the thermostat in boiling water or check the mounting surface of the aluminum thermostat housing with a straight edge. New fan clutch and fan blade is the way to go, not electric. A few minutes under the car he could have pulled the block drain and gone back with BMW blue coolant. Would have been a great time to change the starter “while your there” Do you plan on securing the oil pump nut? A VDO gauge pod where the sunglasses holder is located would have been a great upgrade while everything was out of the way. That way you get a real water temp, oil temp, and oil pressure gauge.

I bought a Zionsville Radiator for my E34 M50TU. And I already had a Spal wiring kit. The white temp switch sensor has 3 prongs. I assume I’ll be using the stock pre existing connector from the old one. But the color of my wires are different. I got a purple striped and a solid brown. And I highly doubt this third wire is green or red.

Not OG spec using green coolant in a BMW is wrong and can cause damage it doesn't matter what was in it the proper thing to do would be to flush the green out and replace. The green will clog coolant passages eventually.
@ObsessedGarage3 жыл бұрын
That's nonsense.
@thelukestormwalker3 жыл бұрын
@@ObsessedGarage no it's not it's been proven time and time again in the bmw community there are things in green coolant that cause internal corrosion this a well known fact you can choose to damage your engine if you like but any BMW tech will tell you not to do this. I thought better of OG but I guess you aren't that obsessed

@@thelukestormwalker correct, some green coolant can cause a lot of corrosion. G05 is ok, although you don’t see it in green often.

I was thinking the same thing. It doesn’t matter what was in there before, using BMW Coolant is the correct way to complete the job. A full flush and refill with the blue BMW coolant would be the right way to do the job.

I'd have to say removing the intake manifold on am S52 is one of the more unpleasant jobs. The mess of hoses and vacuum underneath is sure to rip your hands up. The harness and fuel lines and rail are such a pain in the ass to work with trying to get the manifold out. Hope I never have to do it again after having done it several times.

What you should be doing after replacing all those parts is using waterless coolant . Lasts longer, cools the engine better and faster , and doesn't turn aesthetic and eat all the plastic coolant parts BMW , Benz, and many others are now using to save time, weight & $$$ on manufacturing vehicles . www.evanscoolant.com/ is what I put in all my vehicles including older vehicles. Since I have done so I haven't had to replace water pumps, hoses, or plastic parts as often . Ever Ferrari is now using waterless coolants in their vehicles
